STL is its own little world. it pretty well seceded a while back.

My favorite part of STL is that art museum... It's beautiful in moonlight.

I like KCMO. It's a small funky city with a great sky line. I'm comfortable in it. Unfortunately, it seems to be empty. When I first moved here, I was like, "okay, where are the people in this city?" 😕

you skip the opportunity to pwn me right back and point out I've lived here for 15 years and that's a little longer than "passing through" entails?

med sk00l has killed your snark. I am so sad now. 🙁

BP. I still have mad snark skillz.

you went back two months just to find that?

*shakes head*

note to self re: Durden's mental status: recent and remote memories grossly intact. 👍

I'm not so sure about yours though since you seem to have forgotten that this is my second infraction and that my tab is really up to $200....

Random news from my basement:
Apparently I should change the filter more often on the furnace. 😳 :barf:

Upon taking the load of blacks (not darks, blacks) out of the dryer, I counted 6 pairs of black pants. There are 2 more still hanging in the closet. Methinks I need to work on the idea of "simplify". 😳

And from the grocery store, earlier today:
Edy's has out their seasonal ice cream flavors: Peppermint :biglove: , Pumpkin :biglove: , and Apple Pie 😍

On the other end of the spectrum, I have a closet full of dress shirts and other nice clothing, but all I ever seem to wear these days are scrubs.

Well, I'll be up for another 2 hours - a romantic date with Orgo.

I'm calling our chem department chair tomorrow to discuss the possibility of doing a research course this spring. He said they do have a few different opportunities, so I hope to find something I like. I described my "dream project" to him (clinical toxicology-related), so maybe he can hook me up with something that's somewhat similar - or maybe he has something that's even better.

 I had a dream last night that I got an acceptance from Calgary 3 days after submitting my app - no interview, nothing. I was like, "Uh, shouldn't I be interviewed first, and don't I have to wait till February for my invite?" They were like "Oh, you are such a stellar applicant, and we heard you could end up going to the US, so we just wanted to snag you as soon as possible..."

I was like, "FINE, I'll think about your offer.😎"

Too bad it was just a dream.🙁

The morning went well, unfortunately, my unknown was motile... lol.. so I started a tryptone broth and will make the final call on it (E coli or enterobacter) on monday.

Headed to the country in about 1.5 hrs... Going to a high school football game with my sister (my brother in law's team) and staying the night with them. Sometimes getting away from the city is just the break I need. 👍

First, I must plow through a bit more of this physics paper... 👎

Row, row, row your boat, gently down the stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream...

Home from my too-short sabbatical to the country and it was wonderful! My brother-in-law's team won again, which puts them with only 1 loss on the season (and a pre-conference game) so we may be going all the way to state again. 👍

It was definitely an experience.. ran over a smiling opossum and an armadillo on the way back to my sister's after the game... gotta love country roads.

Now I commence to sitting my butt on the couch for the remainder of the weekend. And if I get REAL adventurous, maybe doing a chemistry lab and/or finishing that physics paper.

not too much here...just trying to get in a full two days of studying. we have exams coming up two weeks from monday. i'm really looking forward to thanksgiving and christmas break already!

what's up in your neighborhoods, SM and funk?

Yeah, I'm looking foward to those two breaks as well... Not much going on in my 'hood. It's a beautiful fall day, after a rain storm. The air is clear and crisp. I just got back from jogging two miles. I'm recommiting to regular exercise.

I had a tough exam at the beginning of this week. I thought I had done badly, but as it turned out, I did pretty well relative to the mean. I guess all those late nights spent studying paid off...but I still feel like I didn't learn much and did well mostly through luck.

After the test, I got pretty lazy. I haven't been too productive thus far. Man, our academic schedule is intense; more logical breaks need to be factored in. The pressure is constant. 🙁

wow, excellent job on the 2 mi run! i'm impressed. 🙂 i used to be a runner when i was younger, but i just can't do it anymore (hurts my knees). so instead i figure skate, "jog" on the elliptical machine, dance, etc.

i feel you on the crazy academic schedule. we have our next set of exams (4 of them) over a week and a day (monday to monday), and then we start up the next block on tuesday (not even a 1 day break). ugh, not looking forward to that

anywho, hang in there...it's ok to take a mental break for a few days after an exam. you'll get back into the swing of things.

not much to report unfortunately aside from that it's really starting to feel like fall and I'm loving it 🙂

It's too cold here for that type of outdoor exercise
