Sad 🙁

I have to be re-fingerprinted at the hospital i'm starting shadowing at... The fingerprint-er did it too fast and messed up. Grrr.

so what's up with everyone? i'm finally getting ready to start my first year. There's free food during orientation week so that should be awesome.

YAY NIKKI! i'm so excited for you! 👍 you have to report back and let us know how everything is going. 🙂

i'm excited to start 2nd year in about 3 weeks. can't believe it's almost here already!!

Wow... page 8. How sad!

I've been shadowing in the NICU for 3 weeks now. It's fabulous. Getting so much experience and really loving the little people... definitely my specialty pick so far!

Yesterday I scrubbed for a GYN surgery to take out dermoids... those were some scary lookin tumors!

ok where are the rest of my random peeps????

wow guys, i think the random thread is actually dying. last post 7-29-08?? really?? 🙁

Hi, PB&J.... 🙂

It's been a very busy few weeks. 2nd year is starting out rough. Neuro is definitely not a walk in the park. I'm having trouble connecting the dots and am a bit sleep-deprived as I try to get a handle on neuroanatomy.

Anyway....good to see you.

Yeah I am sad at what has become of the random thread. We all got too busy with school.

I go back on Monday. 🙁 😴 😱 :scared:

And I'm pregnant again so this year (and next) and going to be quite different.

yeah neuro is interesting because all the material really builds upon itself and it's very conceptual. I took a medical school neuro course and i know for quite awhile i was lost in space--i felt like i was studying so much but nothing was clicking. But i just kept working very hard at it and i talked through some concepts with other students in the class, and slowly things came together.

i 😍 neuro. i dunno why exactly, but it's one of my favorite subjects. 👍

i'm just getting into week two of school and i am stressed already. path is very interesting but also very jam packed. tomorrow we start pharm....i can't decide whether or not i'm looking forward to it. :/

in other news, i got a kitty this summer. he's adorable! 🙂

Time to start classes, again. Who's watching the olympics? Who out there wants to be Micheal Phelps? Ha 🙂

oxeye, congratulations! that is wonderful news!

I have two interviews so far in september, a new full time job (in the office I've been in for several year, mainly jus a promotion), and school starting next week. Things are good here.

Right now, we're hunkered down awaiting the arrival of Fay's outer bands any minute. fun fun.

Nice. Yeah I've just accepted that my "free-time" is not really going to happen. So, I've decided just to enjoy exactly what I'm doing, where ever I am, and when ever it is. It seems to be sticking so far.

Great philosophy!

All's well here... the new job is great. All eyes are on the Caribbean and Gustav... and praying it stays far,far away. So much of our area still isn't recovered from Katrina. 🙁

bump. Here comes Gustav! Grrrrrr...

Most of my family has already sought higher ground at my parent's home "up north" (the town that I live in and that their second home is in... about 60 miles off the coast). The rest of them will be arriving tomorrow. I will be making the trek across town tomorrow myself, I'd rather be with everyone else for the brunt of it, then I'll come home soon after.

be safe gradu8!!

man, school must be rough. last post 8-31-08. 😱

i'm getting ready for my first block of exams (starting sep. 22). i feel totally unprepared, even though i've been doing lots of reading and studying. i guess this is how i felt a lot last year. it's hard to tell until you take the actual exam.

how is everyone?

I'm great, PB. Had my first interview last week, totally in love with the school. An agonizing 32 days until the magic "we can give you an answer day", even though they actually were making decisions on our group yesterday.

Another one next Monday (eight days...). My job is going well and grad school is grad school. Nothing too tough.

Anyone else alive out there??

omg why is my undergrad taking forever sending out the letter 😡
ARRGGGG!

yes school is hard

Wow congrats oxeye!!!!!! How are you feeling? What do the girls think about another little one on the way?

I am going to post drivel here every single day to prevent the random thread from dying. 🙂

I am applying for hemepath fellowships right now. Seriously the applications never end. Next week I am on vacation and am going to Nebraska to see my niece and nephew!

Today's drivel from a nurse at the hospital: "I think you can learn how to be a pathologist from TV anymore!" 😡

I hate pages like "we just wanted to let you know that we issued 2 emergency red blood cell units."

Me: ok... thanks for the info 🙄
well i guess i'm a long way from that. I'm just learning something like metabolism 😎

I really love Michigan in the fall! Tonight is the first night with a chill in the air.

Hey-o :hello: It's been a while. Busy busy summer...I had to do my comprehesive exams for my PhD. Good news is that it's all over, and I passed too 😀

I agree with enjoying fall. I love love love the first part of fall, with the leaves changing colour and more comfortable sleeping temperatures. It also feels very much like fall with the sun setting earlier. Now, as for the second part of fall, around November, when it can't decide whether to snow or rain...not a fan 😛

I do like the return of the students though. It's nice for us grad students to have the campus to ourselves in the summer, but it's also nice to have the on campus coffee shops open past 3pm

Congrats on that PhD!

Tulane in t-35 hours! 🙂 :luck: to me! I'm just excited for my second interview... and I haven't been to nola in a year or two, so I'm anxious to see how the rebuilding efforts are going near the downtown area. They were slow to start but I've heard things are finally coming along.
