It is very cold here today. 35 with 30 mph winds. Tonight it is supposed to get down to low 20s.

Of course, in the middle of winter if a day like this came around we would all be outside in our shorts. 🙂
Yeah, it was cold as a witch's tit yesterday. I thought yesterday would be a fantastic day for ultimate frisbee. Boy was I wrong. It rained all day but fortunately it stopped before game time. The good thing about moist soggy fields is that you can lay out and dive after the disc. The bad thing is that you get really dirty.

Today is pretty bad too. It's kinda windy here and it is/was raining.

I just can picture you running through a dewy meadow flinging books and medical supplies over your shoulder as happy music plays.
Ha!

It is going to be another glorious day here, though gustier than yesterday.

I was at a stunning performance of Carmina Burana last night.
The conductor (visiting from Huntsville, AL) prefaced the concert by saying "Allow me to congratulate you on your weather. You deserve a better reputation!"

Vita detestabilis!
nunc obdurat
et tunc curat!

the detestable life

and then easy

It was less complicated orchestration than the modernesque first half, but truly a masterwork. You could not have packed more drama into that hall last evening.

It is nice that the extra smilies have been moved together with the main smilies. Now I will remember to use the barf smiley and the pissed smiley more often.

The NFL draft is amusing. Some of these players brought 50 people with them to the draft headquarters to celebrate.

I am having a party tonight to celebrate graduating and there are almost fifty people coming. Well, ok, thirty people. 😎

I hope they are all bringing presents.

Me too!!

I actually have made out like a bandit. Many family members are very generous and sent me checks and gift certificates.

I just spend about twenty minutes trying to change my avatar and getting all frustrated that it wasn't working. Then I read the announcement that we can't change avatars right now. 😳

Off to buy some decent clothes.

You and me both. I was trying to make the pink taco my avatar.

Speaking of pictures, I got my grad photos in the mail today. My head is awfully big 😳 I look silly in a mortarboard, but.... parents. They seem to like those pictures.

I am so off pizza now. Unless they are thin crust.

I think I'll go get Vietnamese for dinner. With a nice big glass of green bubbletea. Mmmm...
yeah i go for the thin crust as well...maximizes the sauce+cheese+topping:crust ratio which means more flavor which means happy me.

i would go get something else but by the time i get home, a lot of places are closed (and i'm not in the mood for fast food).

damn you for making me hungry  bubble tea kicks ass.

Every now and then thick crust/deep dish is a better choice, but overall I agree with thin crust. Plus, deep dish is easier to screw up.

This afternoon when I was at the mall I had to use the restroom. So I go in there and and sit down. And in one of the other stalls this lady was going to the bathroom and making repeated phone calls on her cell phone. Why do people do this? Can't it wait until you get done?

Maybe they were playing battlesh*ts over the telephone.

I just read on CNN that you Michigan folks have 5-8 inches of snow on the way.
you should stop reading CNN and start preparing for your clinical rotations.

😀
just kidding

I actually feel like I should be doing this. Like review my Step I notes or something in hopes of recalling some information. But what I really should be doing is wrapping up all my lab stuff. But I have so much lab stuff to do and am so overwhelmed about rotations that I am just reading CNN and posting on SDN.

You start out on a fluffy rotation to start right? Derm I think you said. You should be able to wrap things up by working evenings part time. That way you don't have to do EVERYTHING this weekend.

I have to make glycerol stocks for over 200+ of my DNA constructs. Fun fun fun. Then there's the cataloging and organizing...ooh, more joy awaits!

Yes I do start on derm for two weeks - good memory! Wise advice about wrapping up over the next two weeks. There's no way I can get everything done this weekend anyway. Especially since I am partying tonight. 😎

Ugh... That sounds totally sucky. Sorry.

The snow is not accumulating. I think 5-8 inches is a pipe dream. As some people might say, "I bet a MAN made that exaggerated forecast."

It's straight highway the whole way. 94 to 23 to 12. One of the other benefits of home is that there is Warsteiner here.

yaah said:
p.s. are you still going to order the pizza?

yeah, i don't think so  i would go to Metzgers more often but it is kinda out of the way.

no warsteiner here. actually the lab has been without beer for about a week now. i guess it'll be time for me to smuggle another 12-pack here.

the nice thing about western blots is that you can do them while completely drunk. you just have to wait to sober up until you can fully interpret what the results mean

Sometimes I hate the end of a day where you planned on being somewhat productive but were not, thus a guilty feeling descends over you and you get pissed at yourself.

I feel this way today even though I have kind of been productive. I deleted posts, did my grocery shopping, got a new computer monitor, and tidied a bit.

Well the 6-10 inches of snow did not materialize, but we do have one or two, and it is still snowing. Damn global warming.

yaah, it's STILL snowing here. i think we're supposed to get more today.

this sucks. i gotta clean off my cah.
