My favorite moments from the ER always include stuff like

Why are you making me wait?
I have an emergency - my throat is sore.
You're making me wait because I'm Latina.
I am allergic to Toradol.

Dull. Dull. My Dad does ER and for some reason he likes it, but I can't spend more than about 20 minutes in there before I feel like my brain is melting.
I'm a fan of EM but maybe that is b/c that is where my interest lies :meanie:

Indian food isn't mush 🙁

There is a lot of mush in there though.

For what it's worth, I am not a huge fan of Chinese food either - it's nice for a snack but not usually a good meal. I really like japanese food though (apart from sushi).

I agree - Japanese food is good. I love sushi and sashimi, especially. I have only 2 problems with it - it almost never leaves me feeling full and it so darned expensive! Chinese food is tricky - a lot of the Chinese food here is American Chinese style, which is mostly crap. But, good Chinese food is delicious, with so many regional specialties and styles.

ok...some indian food is mush. but it's damn good mush. my favorite mush dish is palak/saag paneer. soak that **** up in rice or naan...you got yerself a meal baby! and you got those occasional cheese chunks that burst in your mouth like flavor crystals. ooh baby!

other indian food isn't mush, i agree. ooh the tender tandoori chicken...fatty goodness galore...ooh baby!
=You're still here? We should have dinner wed or thurs before you leave.
Yeah, I won't be driving back to DC until Sunday or Monday. I have dinner plans tonight. Parents coming into town tomorrow and staying until Saturday. So Saturday or maybe Sunday would work.

It never leaves you feeling full, indeed. You might feel full when the bill comes but when you're driving outta the parking lot, you're feeling hungry again. It is expensive...but it's soooo damn good.

I just don't like Texas, I'm sorry. There are too many guns, and too many people who think gun rights are more important than people rights, and too many people who won't shut up about Texas and how fantastic it is. That's all. Obviously, I like many people from Texas, I just don't want to live there.
No, there's just a great emphasis on people's rights to have guns... 😛

Thus: My first job after residency will probably be at Parkland Memorial in Dallas. Maybe I could access the JFK/Lee Harvey Oswald/Jack Ruby files.
  That'll learn ya!

Dallas isn't as "bad" as Fort Worth. The two cities are pretty different, for being only an hour apart. 😎

And did I mention?........

that Texas is absolutely fantastic?
😛

Now you've got me thinking about Pizzeria Uno's 😛

and hunting rifles.

You read every page? I doubt it.

Have you had to drain an elbow abcess on a crack ***** yet? Have you seen the uninsured patient who has an itchy rash in her "special place"? What about the guy who is convinced he's having a heart attack, but it's just GERD, and not now you have to play this conversational game so he and his whole family don't feel like idiots for coming to the ER at 3:00 in the morning? The person with back pain who's from out-of-town and his normal doc prescribes oxycontin except he can't reach him (percocet's don't touch th epain, you understand)? ER can be fun, but there's so much crap to wade through.

I think I was lucky. I did not have to do any of these things.

I actually am on peds right now so only saw kids. It certainly isn't anything I would want to do forever, but I was surprised to enjoy it a bit!

😍 path 😍

ER might not be real medicine but it's still clinical, and as such isn't welcome here. Go listen to somebody's chest with your stethoscope Miss Clinical Medicine.

Hey sacrament - What are you going into? Path?

Oh god, I remember having to do two shifts at the peds ER during my rotation. I never showed up to either shift (the ER shifts were at U of M and the rotation was out at Jokewood...the two institutions rarely communicated and countless med students in the past got away with it). Nothing was ever mentioned. And I got my Pass.

F*ck it. -Nike

I had to do 2 pedes ER shifts too. For the second one I prepared ahead of time, and spent time with 3 different residents and one attending all within the first half hour. THerefore no one noticed when it got busy and I left 2 hours early. It was only a 4 hour shift. 👍

Unfortunately there is no way we could get away with this at my school. 🙁 They keep a very close eye on us on peds for some reason. I have heard that people do this for trauma surgery call and no one cares.

I have a dr's appt tomorrow that I have had for FOREVER and I had to move it because it conflicts with rounds. 😡

oh god forbid the med student miss one rounds because she has a doctors appointment. oh the med student's work is so indispensible and important and rounds is the most important thing in the whole wide world 🙄

I don't know, probably. I hate patients and I don't like reading films, so... there you have it.

hahaha

I figured out how to cough up more stuff from my stupid URI gone by. Why the **** would stuff only come up if I make myself gag? At least my throat/chest is finally clear. I think my voice has been an octave too low for about a month. :þ

Ooh. I also just figured out how to make this symbol ♦ What is is supposed to be? A bullet?

Patients suck. They all have no clue how difficult they make things. Dealing with pieces of patients is much more preferable.

Gawd. I saw pics of pregnant Britney Spears on the web yesterday. :scared:

Yeah sure. I bet you saw her pregnant when you were watching Chaotic. 😛

Cheaters rocks, by the way. I am so glad that you posted about how much you like it. It is the best thing to watch after a hellish day as a med student.

I decided after watching not sucky TV for a weekend that I needed to upgrade my cable. For like $10 more a month I now get all the good stuff. So now I can watch SP, old movies, and so on. I guess it's cool too since I start break in 5 days.

 You have been assimilated.

I saw an episode of that MTV dating show NEXT today while I was drifting in and out of a nap and it was a gay guy episode. Great stuff. The main guy had them all meet him in a horse farm and shovel manure.

I was asked last night if I had ever seen that show.

It's funny how we know it's trash and watch it anyway. 😎

Fat and pregnant are not the same. Now I would like it better if 1) she would cover her belly 2) the media would quit taking pictures of her, and (not or) 3) people would quit posting her pics.

Isn't there a more entertaining celebrity to amuse ourselves with?

I actually don't find her entertaining at all - but I do find the media coverage and people's obsession with her entertaining. So I guess I indirectly find her entertaining. Kind of a strange phenomenon!

Did you ever get AIM, or are you still a slacker?

SDN sure has been down a lot the last two days. Hopefully it is all fixed now.

I did get AIM! I even chatted with you once over it, you silly. 😛
