This U of M has better colors, you have to admit. 😉
Amen. Maize and Blue all the way. Hail to the victors!

Love that Minnesota fight song too - at one point they spell out Minnesota

M-I-N-N-E-S-O-T-A Minnesota! Minnesota! Gooooooooo Gophers!

Except when they get to the "O" you can hear quite clearly the Minnesota accent in there. Cracks me up every time.

Finding coronary thromboses is cool. 👍 Well, not so much for the patient. But it does explain why he died so quickly.

See, what seems like a butchering of the english language, "It have a golden gopher on it?" Is actually not. It is a device often used - leaving out the "does" at the beginning of the sentence. It is often used colloquially, in the form of a question, of course.

🙂

I just have to say that after the sweat bath we've been experiencing here lately, the weather is now amazing - hi 70s/low 80s and no humidity. We drove to the Cape today - great beaches, perfect day. 👍

The weather was good today indeed.
Found another sweet ass liquor store--one of my purchases is actually your favorite whiskey...twas much cheaper than expected. I should've elected to buy, in retrospect, the big daddy size that went for $40. The best part...I didn't pay a damn cent for it.

A friend calls me up, clearly drunk, and tries to place an order for eggrolls. It took me 10 minutes to explain to him that it isn't my people who make eggrolls. My people make pot-stickers and kimchi. No eggrolls. He then threatens to blind fold me with dental floss. Haha very funny. I make him special wonton soup.

Yep - I am here enjoying it actually (not in Boston though). I'm impressed you drove to the cape though - didn't it take like 5 hours? This weekend is always a tough trip.

It only took like 2.5 hrs - I thought it would be longer. We drove out to the closest beach in the National Seashore.

Dude, anything cheaper than expected in Boston is a bonus. I'm kind of surprised they don't charge for whiskey by the pound.

Pot stickers are SO tasty. Do you prefer boiled or fried?

I think Bostonians would throw a **** fit if they had to pay for liquor by the pound. On the other hand, I'd be willing to bet that not enough Bostonians aren't gonna bitch about let's say...honeydews...they'd rather be drinkin' instead of eating fruit.

Fried. There's nothing better than taking something that's fatty and making it fattier. Fatty goodness galore!

I am stuck in Olympia, due to a ******ed parade being on the street I need to cross to get to the freeway.

Oooh! Hey. I woke up not sleepy today, which is like the first time in ages. I think my dog being in the next room makes me sleep crappy. Last night my doggie stayed in my mom's back yard. I hope he didn't dig alot of holes.

Some great weather in boston this weekend. I come back here to a thunderstorm and high humidity. My 2nd year actually starts tomorrow AM, so tonight during my sleep I expect to gain IQ points and more hit points as well. 👍

If I get another 15 hit points I become a Samurai. I wanted to be a ninja but ninjas have to be evil for some reason and I am neutral.

If people in Boston are called Bostonians and people in Calgary are called Calgarians, what are people in Minneapolis-St. Paul called?

Minnesotans. That's all I ever heard when I was there. I guess you could say Minneapolitans or something weird like that. Or Twinkies.

Twinkies! There are a lot of those on shelves here. But there are no 1-litre cartons of milk. What is wrong with this picture?

I was at the Taste of Minnesota on the Fourth. They had deep-fried Twinkies. :barf: And probably 1 in 2 people were obese, with 1 in 3 morbidly so.

I will believe it when I hear you say it. It is used colloquially in many parts of Asia as well, especially in Chinese-speaking countries - except that we don't claim grammatical errata as slang 😛

The visa officer at LAX asked me "how come you speak good English?"
I said what he really meant was that I sounded like him.

Henceforth I am going to claim proficiency in a 6th language - "American". 😎

~

So all this time I've been away, yaah - are you at least married yet??

Because litre (aka liter) is metric system and this is America!!

That sounds absolutely delicious. Perhaps my desire for such foods is why I am fat. 😳

All of you who have just started residencies - tell us how it is! I am very anxious for stories!

I wasn't referring so much to the units as to the sizes. The smallest is a half-gallon (1.89L). You mean I can't get a quarter-gallon? I looked in 3 shops. 🙁 I can't get through that much milk before it expires.

I was just giving you a hard time about the units. 😉 But you're right, I don't think that milk comes smaller than a half-gallon. I don't drink much milk either - I only put it on my cereal. At least it isn't super expensive.

And the flip side to this is that when a repulsive guy is hitting on you, you can say, "Me no speak good English. No understand."

I can imagine what kind of attending you're gonna be. I bet you pronounce the word "centimeters" like sonometers.

Not yet. We did spend the entire weekend together back home though and are not sick of each other yet. 😎

Hmm. I only put it in my tea and chocolate. Maybe I should consider getting half and half. I think that comes smaller...

Wow, you let people down nice 😉 At any rate my dresscode would give it away. I'd have to dress Japanese or something to pull that off.

They do that up north too. I can't figure out why or what influence it is supposed to be.

Yes!! The loser part, but no celebrating is involved at any time in med school. I guess at the end of every rotation.
Celebrate summer. Celebrate weekends without call. Definitely celebrate the end of each rotation!

All of a sudden I find myself with no end-of-rotation exams. Can you imagine!
