Random non-pathology and only peripherally related to pathology thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
hehe. yours is much nicer.

Pack Forest is a camp in a forest. By "camp" I mean it's a bunch of buildings with bunkbeds, a shower/bathroom building, a dining hall, a meeting hall, and a game hall. Those going as leaders (like me) get to stay in the rooms above the dining hall and have private showers and better heating. 👍 Here are pics from last year. http://staff.washington.edu/pnt/pix/events/PackForest04/index.htm
I like this one the best:

The guy sleeping is the co-admin for my school's forum and the two in the front are mods. We were supposed to be setting a good example for the students during the meeting. heh

I also just screwed in real MN licence plates onto my car.

Wow. Now I'm starting to feel almost normal.

I still have a MN license plate. I found it in the parking lot of a dairy queen when I was there and I decided to keep it, and allow a prison inmate to keep his job instead of recycling an old one.

Sometimes I wonder how I will be as an attending pathologist with signout responsibilities. I showed a liver biopsy to two attendings here today, one who has been looking at livers for 20 years, and another for 40 years, and both of them said they don't know what the hell it is.

I have to pack for a retreat before I go to bed. Tomorrow I drive a bunch of first year students to Pack Forest, this place owned by UW. For some reason I feel like throwing underwear, socks, and a toothbrush into a backpack and calling it good. Must.pack.bag. uhhhhhhhhhhhh. so lazy

why did you sign up for that? anyways... have a good time banana.

Cryptic message: I got a pleasant surprise when I logged on today to this forum, but it doesn't necessarily have to do with the posts that have been made (although it could). However, the belief in the pleasant surprise being anything significant has now seriously deteriorated.

I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. 😕

That's why it's cryptic. 😎

So, if you see a picture of a baby and it is really not an attractive baby, do you tell the parents it's cute? I mean, it is well formed and healthy and all that, just kind of frightening looking.

Yes, I probably would tell the parents it's cute. Now I am trying to figure out how this relates to SDN. Are we healthy and well-formed yet frightening in some way?

I guess I'm just too dumb. Yaah and AndyM are the smart ones.

It is so nice to be on psych and have weekends off! 👍

I got up just before the Iowa game to watch them get pummeled by Ohio State.

Now I'm back to bed! 🙂

Is that supposed to be a cryptic analogy? If so, I got one too.

If a woman asks you, "Does this dress make me look fat?" do you say, "Yes" or do you just STFU and say nothing?

These cryptic analogies are not helping me. 🙄
They weren't meant to help you. They were meant to make you feel stoopidur. 😉

We're just being passive-aggressive.

Big 10 Football Wrapup (well sort of):
Penn State - lucky.
Northwestern - still sucks.
OSU and MSU - looking strong...will probably share Big 10 championship.
Michigan vs. Wisconsin tonight ... cripple-fight between two inept teams.
Purdue - overrated. There was a reason why Kirsch sat on the bench for his first 3 years. He sucks.
Minnesota - can't play defense. Cupito sucks. Maroney carries that team.
Iowa - sucks.
Illinois - sucks more. Zook ain't saving this program.

GO lIONSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

I came to the lab and had given up on the team when it was trailing 7-23, thinking "here we go again!"

My experiments are sucking big time, but you have made my day Andy mon!

My intuitions are right, Penn State IS onto something this year!!!!!!!

Yahoooooooooo.............

Haha no, this analogy actually has nothing to do with the cryptic analogy.

Andy, if a woman asks you if a dress makes her look fat, you fake a stomach cramp and run off to the bathroom.

I say: "Woman, it isn't the dress that makes you look fat."

Is it still possible to search just the path forum? I am trying to find old stuff about U Chicago that I know was posted in this forum last year, but when I search I end up getting results from all the forums. This is too much stuff to wade through.

Anybody here play half-life 2? I bought it because I read all these reviews that it is "the best computer game EVER." The graphics seem great but I can't even figure out how to get more than about 5 minutes in the game without getting stuck. It is making me frustrated - not what I'm looking for in a computer game. 🙄

The search page is roughly divided into four quadrants - in the bottom right you can select the forum you wish to limit the search to.

Thanks deschutes - I had never used the "Advanced Search" before. 😳

You're welcome. I actually discovered it because of a wonky mouse - clicking Search kept bringing me to that page instead of bringing up the little pop-up Search box.

Well U of M bit the big one tonight. Yowza. Tonight felt a tad like clinical medicine - I was getting grilled by the future in laws about how to treat borderline diabetes and what it actually means. I do tend to use the "I'm not a real doctor" line, but I am definitely the closest thing to a doctor in their family.

we shall not speak about the wolverines tonight.

Yeah - at least it was close unlike Iowa's game!

The Iowa - Michigan game will be interesting since at this point it is unclear who sucks more.

At least my Huskers are still 3-0. Their game next week against Iowa State will be crucial, I think. If here in Iowa City we get the Minnesota - Penn St. game instead of that game (both are on ABC regional coverage) I will go on a rampage.

OMG it's past midnight and yaah is awake!

It happens. Got home a little after midnight, not that tired due to a long nap this afternoon. Listening to a composer named Lyapunov, rather interesting.

Neat site!! Yay! 🙂

I give up on Half-Life 2. Too complicated. Also is kind of making me feel motion sick! 👎

One of our chiefs was trying to customize the residents' room desktops. I knew it when I saw a monthly calendar, analog clockface and weather forecast when I logged in 😉

I tweaked the weather forecast widget to display in Celsius 😛

Let other ppl say it's cute. Or, find one good feature and talk about that. Teeny fingers are always cute.

Why were you guys talking about Oreos? (I'm too lazy to scroll back)

I had originally planned on losing all this weight before interviews but now I realized it's too late. So I am eating oreos. 🙂
