anything cool happening there?

Nah just a stupid "get along better or else" staff meeting and probably on tornado alert. We are involved somewhat with the local disaster animal relief so I'm sure we will be doing briefings on that as well.

amazing thing I never knew existed: in-ground trampolines.

that is all.

i have been smack in the middle of the obnoxious rain pre-Andrea has been dumping on the Yucatan for 5 days now. I am ready for the rain to go elsewhere please!!!

don't know if I've posted this before, but it's always cute/funny.

FYI forever21 has school tees and sweatshirts super cheap!

My rromate has decided to go back to school and get his AS RN degree. On one side I am super excited for him, and he will be taking alot of classes I have already taken and I can help him. On the other side I feel like he really doesnt understand the job. If its anything like CVT, it isnt all roses and fun. He doesnt wanna do anything "gross" as in poop or car accident gore. I imagine human medicine is kind of like animal medicine. You sort of have to work your way up the chain, even if that includes wiping other people's behinds. I have other friends who are working on their RN degree and they have wiped many butts and sponge bathed many old people. I just dont know if my roomate fully understands that he wont walk right in and be on top of the game like he is in his line of work. Anyone have any insight?

He will definitely be wiping butts and seeing 'gore'. (bed sores come to mind, as do nasty breaks and severed appendiges)

Just saw the Purge with my boyfriend. He was scared/on the verge of tears at the end, yet he was not even moved by the Human Centipede. I do not recommend the Human Centipede, it made me sick to my stomach. The Purge was pretty good, though.

I had to do this tonight. To a pig with 105 degree temp. It wasn't as fun as this picture 🙁. Poor thing. Hope he survives the night :xf:
Way to be totally depressing Emiloo 🙄

I had to do that for a sow at a farm I worked at. Everyone else was just letting her lie there and pant really hard and look really uncomfortable. She was already 113 days, so I gave her Banamine, poured alcohol down her back and sprayed her down every 20 minutes. Ended up staying the night with her(much to my co-workers enjoyment). She made it and had 16 healthy piglets the next day. Didn't lose one and her temp went back down!

Hope he makes it! :xf:

Call me a cynic but I would explain this as follows:

Smart people spend more time pondering life and the world, and more perceptive at seeing things as they are.

Alcohol can be used as a drug of escapism (To an extent).

Smart people need to dull the reality of the crapiness of the world they are more perceptive to see.

🙁

There is an expression dumb and happy for a reason. :meanie:

As they say, ignorance is bliss.

The worrier/planner in me has decided to make a hurricane evacuation box for the dogs.

Now I am just sitting here with an overflowing box full of supplies for every possible scenario I can think of.

Anyone else have an emergency box for their animals? What is in it?

I have a massive first aid kit for when I run my sled dogs. It has almost everything I could ever need for an emergency on the trail. Feels like overload when I go on a short 10 mile run though🙄

Wow, I honestly never took your username literally. Very cool!

I have a research presentation on Monday. My supervisor/bacti prof was going through it with me today, offering suggestions and corrections and stuff. We get to a slide of pictures of diseased fish. He looks at me and says, "Of course you have the juicy pictures. You're such a vet student."

i think i burned my camera flash out while in mexico - it stopped working. i apparently have taken ~6000 pictures with it since i got 10 months ago in august...

I need to do one when I move. Tornadoes though.

I've been using the phrase "in lieu" wrong my entire life. No teachers have ever corrected me. Learn something new every day.

Not funny but I feel stupid. I've been using like it means "in light of". Like "in light of this new information."

Lol, so close, but I bet so confusing for every one else. I'm surprised no one caught it before now! 🙂

Hi guys, longtime lurker coming out of the shadows 🙂 From New England, currently in the process of applying to go back to school to get my pre reqs out of the way while working as a tech - long road ahead of me. this forum has given me encouragement to pursue it, though, as a "non-trad" 🙂

For the ball python: a pillowcase, a snake hook, and some chemical heat packs (some "instant" ones, some that are slow to heat up but stay at a very precise heat for 36 hours, which we used when we had to drive the snake 2000 miles in December last winter). Just the bare bones.

I think I've been high for almost 24 hours... Dilaudid and oxycodone. I don't like it either.

I'm seriously considering purchasing my wedding dress online... I found it on the David's Bridal outlet site... It's a final sale, no returns/ exchanges... They only have it available in my size... It is sooo pretty . but I'm scared to press the purchase button.. I fit in that size in all the dresses I've tried on.. But what if it looks bad..but if it looks great then I got a $800 dress for $ 400.... Hmm decisions decisions...

Can you go try it on in person and then buy it online?

have you tried any dresses on that are a similar style? I'd be more concerned about you looking good (or "right" or however you want to look on your wedding day) in the style you're thinking about buying. Probably though, right? I'm sure you like it because it's a style that you know would be flattering on you. If so, I wouldn't worry too much about the sizing... most people have to get their dresses altered to fit *perfectly.* I bought my dress on ebay for $250 (a sample from a closing bridal shop) and then had it altered for another $200. It fit like a glove and was perfect! If you do buy it and dislike it, you could always try selling it on a site like preownedweddingdresses.com (although I don't know what the return is like for a Davids Bridal dress).

Oh yes, this is a style I've been trying on, and is exactly what I've been looking for. Just worried about buying online.

I'd be tempted to go with your instincts, especially if you've tried on similar styles. When I bought my dress, I looked at styles online first, and the one I fell in love with online is the one I ended up buying. I tried on other styles just to be sure (and because the friend I took with me pulled random dresses off the rack for me to put on, some of them pretty over-the-top 🙄 ), but I could've pretty much bought it online and been 100% satisfied. And you'll likely have to pay extra to have it fitted no matter where you buy it. But, it's up to you if it's worth the risk.
