Idk but you bet your ass I'll be going to see Captain Marvel. See how she's going fix it all
Captain Marvel is an extremely cool character in the comics and is also one of the stronger Marvel heroes ability-wise. I would say she is outclassed by a fully trained Dr. Strange when he has the Eye of Agamotto and his cloak though (that isn't saying much, Dr. Strange is OP as hell), and she would probably be outclassed by a few other Marvel characters who aren't allowed to be in the MCU because of Sony contracts. She's super cool and I'm excited to see what they do with her character.
I'm most excited for ant and wasp that's next! Although I am curious. Also wonder how they chose the characters at the end...
I have a theory about this that is related to the story itself. They had to dust Strange, because he's the only one who knows the sequence of events necessary to defeat Thanos and keeping him around limits the power of the storytelling for the next Avengers installment because, duh, Strange would know how to fix everything. Removing T'Challa was important in destabilizing one of the most formidable and powerful nations that currently exists in the MCU (important for raising the stakes from a storytelling perspective). I think M'Baku is going to step up to the plate for Wakanda post-snap, and I think there's going to be at least some infighting in the country when he does. Scarlett Witch had to go because she has already demonstrated the ability to destroy an infinity stone and hold a nearly fully powered Thanos back while she was doing it. Narratively if you want the audience to understand the level of desperation you need to be going into the next movie with, you need to take out these characters because they're simply too useful in the fight. I think Fury and Hill getting poofed was for similar reasons - there are now no people to contact to send out feelers along the vast superpowered network that Shield has been building in secret for decades.

As for some other characters who poofed, I think a lot of it was for setting tone for the movie ahead. Notice that a huge portion of comic relief characters (almost all of the GOTG) and likable plucky characters who you just want to see succeed (Peter Parker, Sam Wilson, on some level Bucky Barnes) also disappeared. I think beyond trying to set a more serious tone and pace for the next movie, there was some level of trying to remove the support systems and characters who provide a lot of emotional backbone for some main characters who really have the stakes raised now. Almost all of the central heroes that remain are alone in some way that's important to their character.

Tony Stark is now going into this fight with the loss of someone he mentored and swore to protect hanging over him and with little other support since he cut ties with most of the other Avengers. Cap lost Sam, Bucky, and T'Challa, all characters who have been important to his growth and new directions as a hero in recent times. Thor has been slowly losing his support system since, like, Thor 2, and he just lost the last remnants of it in the very beginning of Infinity War in what I suspect was a very permanent way. Rocket has no one left from the GOTG. Natasha and Bruce are working through a very awkward reunion after years apart in which they didn't speak to one another. Rhodey is surrounded by Avengers that he hasn't worked with or really spoken to since the events of Civil War, which ended with him paralyzed by them.

I think a big idea in the next Infinity War movie is going to be the same one that's always a big idea in every Avengers movie - that they need to overcome some differences and work together if they want to be successful and stop the bad guy. I have a feeling that movie is going to resolve a lot of the drama and tension that has been building in the MCU for years (particularly in resolving the tensions from Civil War). I also think Cap and Tony are going to make up in a big way in the new movie and then one of them is going to die lol.

Plant lovers, I need help! I'm thinking of adding some plants to my new apartment to make it come together even more. However, I've always been horrible at keeping plants alive. Any recommendations for some low maintenance, easy to care for plants?
I kill plants. And I have no sun. My solution - intermittently buy $5 fresh cut flower bunches and a water fountain

Thanks for the plant suggestions everyone!

Also, all I want to do is buy fun workout clothing...that I don't technically need, but just want. I have bought like 8 pairs of booty shorts in the past 2 weeks. Now I need new tank tops and sports bras to go with them...

Speaking of plants...my pineapple plant is flowering (finally 😀)

Has anyone here watched genius junior hosted by Neil Patrick Harris? Crazy...those kids are crazy smart...

I love that show!! I missed tonight’s episode because I don’t have cable, but I always enjoy watching them later. Those kids are amazing.

Tonight's the finale and it has been INSANE! I'm not half as smart as those kids but its great to see a show highlighting intelligence especially from young kids!

All my fellow Halo Top lovers may hate me but I'm starting to think Enlightened may be the way to go. I just tried their mint chocolate chip and it was freaking amazing...or I'm really deep into my cut/nutrition plan and I just want it to taste like the real thing...it's definitely way harder to maintain now. I'm hungry all the time :arghh:

Omg the new Breyers Delights are amazing and are ~250-350 for the pint and don’t taste gross. Looking at the labels, there’s a bit more carbs and sugars than enlightened (comparing straight up chocolate in both) but the breyers is a bit bigger of a serving size for the nutrition facts so tbh it could be a bit more even if they were the same amount, I just don’t feel like mathing hahaha

I might try the enlightened ice cream at some point though!!

So there's this kitten that I *might* want to adopt. I haven't met her yet, but if I'm off work in time I'll go tomorrow. My friend just adopted one of her litter mates. She's a torti, just like my Cali was, and I would name her Esio Trot and it would be awesome.

The only reason I'm hesitating is because everyone loves kittens and she shouldn't have trouble finding a home. I got Millie as an adult (we think she was at least 5 years old), and she is an awesome cat, and I kind of want to hold off and adopt an adult cat, if someone irresistible comes along. But . . . kitten. (Also my friend just adopted this kitten's litter mate and another friend might take the second one, so we'd be an awesome family of sibling cats! haha) My family is actually really agreeable to the kitten idea (what the heck, seriously, this never happens).

Is this a ridiculous argument to be having with myself? 🙄 Is it generally easier to introduce an adult or a kitten to a house that has other cats already?

I feel like people on here have said it’s easier to introduce a kitten but I could be remembering wrong.

dooooo itttttttt

Really depends on the personalities of the cats involved. Some adult cats really hate/are terrified of kittens because they don't understand what they are. Or they do, and they think momma cat is around the corner about to eat them if they go near her baby.
(The reasons are probably conjecture. But it's true cats tend to be freaked out by unfamiliar things).
So it may be easier for the kitten to adjust...maybe, that also depends on the kitten. But for the existing adults it may not be.
My opinion, cat introductions in general are hard and can take a long time, but most cats figure it out eventually without too many issues if you take things slow.

There is an overabundance of kittens in the world. If you've found one you love, adopt her. Someone has to, might as well be you.

Please don't be.

Uh-oh. Did he butch-er policies? Would you say he's been an otter failure as governor?

We don't actually have to talk politics... I just don't know how any newspaper could restrain themselves from constantly making headline puns. Or why there aren't more delightful otter or butcher based political cartoons.

Mmmkay so I may be hyperventilating. Had given up and planned to do a second gap year and apply for a third time.

Then yesterday a few people on here posted that UW's OOS waitlist is cruising along. I was #38 in the the last update email they sent out. Yesterday the people who were #15, #16, and #20 were offered spots and they all declined.

So in case fate has other plans for me, I'd really appreciate it if someone could tell me more about UW's curriculum, environment, etc. I might pass out if I get offered a spot and plan to move to a place I know nothing about.

Also I looked at the price and it's terrifying. But if I get in, I'm going.
