When I called with a similar financial situation, my loan provider had me sign up for IBR for a year which actually makes my payments $0 right now on both of my loans since I'm waiting to start a job and don't have an income yet. That was recommended over forbearance. I can still pay whatever I can afford towards my loans but I get the benefits of being on a repayment plan (vs. being in forbearance) and I don't have to re-submit the paperwork for IBR until next year even after I start my job which will hopefully give me some time to re-build my savings post-graduate school.

A financial advisor also recommended this as an option to me after vet school if I'm job less at some point.
 
my father just sent me an email telling me to be sure i always keep my dog on a leash and away from water because he heard about a lab that was eaten by a gator last weekend. i have 8 years of higher education and 3 degrees, and for goodness sake, i'm a veterinarian! i know things about animals! i am a fairly intelligent person. i do not understand why he continues to believe i am a complete idiot. sigh. (this type of statement comes frequently. my still-in-college brother however is much more competent apparently...)

Do you and your pop have much in common? It almost seems like he is just finding something to talk to you about that is somewhat in line with your interests, not necessarily that he thinks your are a ***** of sorts. At least I can hope that's the case. 🙂

I know multiple vets that don't keep their dogs on leashes, and we work right on a busy highway.
 
Called my provider yesterday, asked to get the forbearance cancelled and asked after the IBR plan. The man I talked to said he'd e-mail me the forms and to go from there. Still haven't gotten anything, and the website now says that some of my loans are on a different repayment plan, so may have to call back tomorrow to see what's going on and to ease my panic.

My dog is rarely on a leash =/ Around major roads sure, but she's off leash the entire time we're at the barn...
 
Grrr, lack of money.

I have quite a few purchases I need to make still this summer (NAVLE registration/visiting potential internships) and I could use more clothing for clinics. However, I'm also desperately in need of new running shoes and have started to think about getting a pair of cross-training shoes for my CrossFit classes since I'm lifting more, and I feel like all the different movements are making me wear through my running shoes faster (they are 6 months old though) and I want to improve my form. And I could always use more workout clothing. I just hate how athletic stuff is so expensive and you burn through it all so quickly.

And of course the next model of the running shoe I have pretty much worn since 2011/2012 is coming out with it's next model in October. I really doubt I can last till then with the current pair, but I'm curious to see if they make changes that will make the shoe similar to an older, slightly better model.

My GSD had diarrhea all over the kitchen floor, and he is having some skin allergies- poor guy.

Also, a girl in my Biology course feels the need to open her mouth to comment after just about everything. I have taken up the challenge of asking the professor very in depth question just to see if she'll comment about it- yup. What I want to say is, "look, girl, I think you are opening your mouth just for the sake of saying something- I'm asking the professor not you in your seemingly feeble-mindedness". Rant over.
 
Ugh... I just wrote my parents an email begging them for money. I did a well laid out budget including financial aid and the little money I will be getting from the lab job I will be working. I just don't know why it is so hard to ask them... I need a new car because it is getting too much to fix my current car and the last time I took it in to get my oil changed the car guy basically told me that it would be a hazard to continue to keep driving it for much longer. I know my parents would give me money, I just hate to ask because I know that they will give it to me despite it would be over extending themselves.
 
Somehow I've had a fatigue headache all day even though I slept for at least 6 hours last night. Usually I don't feel this bad even when I've gotten less sleep. Makes me wonder if I slept really light for some reason last night. Bleh.
 
Ughhhh. A mere three hours on a hike and sad rock climbing attempt with my co-workers this week resulted in 40+ mosquito bites, including one on my frickin' eyelid. So I also get to look like an abuse victim for the next few days, what with swollen eyelid + rock climbing bruises + inability to stop scratching myself raw.

I hate being delicious.
 
No AC + hot day + humid = uggggggghhhhhh

The dogs have nice, huge fans and they don't seem bothered in the slightest. I only have a window which doesn't help much.
On the bright side I didn't have to force the dogs into the basement to keep cool which I was worried I would have to do. Plus it's cooled down outside so now if that nice air would just makes it's way in here I can stop sweating.
Tomorrow is supposed to pretty hot though too.

What's your blood type? Turns out mosquitoes prefer the O type. So says the 20 bites on just one of my calves. Haven't counted up the rest.

I'm AB+ and I'd put money on Mosquitos preferring me over you. When I was in Belize, we went cave tubing. On the walk up the hill, the Mosquitos were awful. The guide said it would get better once we got into the water and into the caves because of all the bats in the caves. We were well into the caves and I still had a cloud around me. The guide was shocked and said "wow, I've never seen them this far in before. They must really like you!"

Was just something I read in a fishing magazine. Wonder if there's any actual research on this.

I've read a bunch of actual research and so far the answer seems to be, yes Mosquitos significantly prefer some people over others, but no one really knows why just yet.

I dunno, I'm O+ and this is what my back looked like. My sister also came out similar (all of us in my family are O+), and everyone around us were perfectly fine. I'm like the best mosquito repellent to have around for others.

My bf is also O+ and got like no bites

People tell me I'm great mosquito repellent for them too! I feel your pain. It sucks being a mosquito magnet. The only plus side is that as long as I don't scratch them, the bites I get are typically gone within 24 hours. The more often you are bitten by the same species of mosquito, the shorter the duration of effects. I was likely recently bitten by a different species of mosquito, and I had an itchy bump for several days.

Yeah, I used to get huge welts like the ones in the picture up until late adolescence due to not having been born in this country. The bites pictured are from Hawaiian Mosquitos that I clearly weren't as used to.

That makes so much sense! I knew that the itchiness from my mosquito bites in Grenada was decreasing as I got more bites 😛
 
Finally found a medication (valium) that takes care of my vertigo/nausea. I've been taking it at very small doses at night before bed. Now I've developed this headache that's been around for 3 days non stop. I think it's the valium, so I stopped it, but the headache is still present with no relief from tylenol (t 1/2 of valium is ridiculously long in humans, something like 3 days). I hate my brain. :barf:

For those suffering from mosquito bites: topical benadryl or topical benzocaine (can find this in the lady department of the drug store) works miracles
 
My bank wants to charge me 3$ per transfer into my mortgage account. That's almost a $1000 by the time the mortgage is paid off. Why isn't there an easy way to transfer money between banks yet?

Starting to think I need a new bank. It's one thing after another lately.

Are the accounts with the same bank? My bank does the same thing for paying my credit card but if I go through the mobile app as opposed to in person, or online, the fee just magically isn't there.

No the mortgage is through a different bank and needs to be paid out of a certain account at that different bank.
Meanwhile I do all my day to day banking with a bank that actually has locations near me. And they are being quite difficult about all this. But it's their own fault for offering me a crapy interest rate and making me go somewhere else for financing!

They shouldn't be charging you for that. But can you set it up through your mortgage provider as a bill pay? Sometimes that can get around transfer fees.
 
Could you pay the mortgage with a credit card instead and then pay the card when you need to?

I have a car loan through a credit union and they are such a pain in the butt. If I pay in person with a credit card, they do it as a cash advance so there is a fee. If you want to do the drive thru, you have to use a check. I tried the account thing where you transfer money into an account with the union. It didn't work right - it was all complicated - and I ended up having a late payment. There is no online payment option. And I can't pay over the phone.

Hey, it's motivation to get the loan paid off at least...
 
My A/C is out. It's currently 82 degrees in my apartment.
 
So the other day at work (pet store in a relatively low income area of town), a customer came through the line asking about a 5$ coupon we sent out through e-mail. They said they had the coupon but forgot to print the paper out. Well, each store coupon has a little PLU number cashiers have to punch in so the customer can get that coupon... customers did not know the number, and neither did I. Customers did not have a smartphone they could use to look it up. When I explained that we had to have the number, the customers got irate. Instead of making it a thing, I gave them a 5$ discount (which is what the coupon was); this one relates to them having got their dog licenses through us, and is supposed to be ONLY for a toy and ONLY if the person has spent 30$ or more. Customers were happy, but my manager got cheesed off the next day and put a paper with the transaction (complete with my name in several places and a hefty rant about why it was wrong and how "this might result in corrective action") next to the time clock so everyone could behold my mistake.

Firstly, I'm mad she left my name up there. If you wanna put my cashier number on there, fine, only other cashiers and the managers know that. But putting my name up there? Really? Would it not have been enough to call me to the office or write me up (which she still might do)? I am an adult. Confront me about something I did wrong and I will explain myself and admit to it. Don't put me on a wall of shame... it's embarrassing, for one thing, and really nobody's business but the managers' and mine.
Second, it's a 5$ coupon. Really? 5$? I made a customer happy, which is what the managers would've done anyway. They'd have got the code for the original coupon and given it to them, even if they didn't spend enough or whatever, because we have to make the customers happy in case they give us a bad survey.

I show up on time every shift. I've come in for multiple people when they're sick and I've always gone above and beyond to make customers happy even when their demands are stupid. Moreover, I've spent a bunch of money there myself. Other employees do worse crap and never get called out on it, but I give someone a damn 5$ coupon and I get the public humiliation treatment.

I am so ready to be done with this retail bologna for a few months. Probably going to work over x-mas break, unless they decide they don't want me back, in which case... whatever, dudes.
 
Grr. Apparently my package from Amazon was shipped through the USPS and they decided that they weren't going to leave it on my porch. I don't have time to go to the office on 50th to pick up said package during your hours. I was really looking forward to getting my bike lock today so that I could ride to the hospital tonight if i get called in and hopefully be able to go to the gym tomorrow or just actually use my bike in general. Lame rant, but just frustrated.
 
Walking my dog today (the doofus in my pic) and I see a guy with three angry barking little dogs on extendable leashes coming my way. 2 Shih Tzus and a Pekingese it looked like. Being a wary dog walker, I elect to cross over to the other side of the street at the intersection and continue on my merry way.

Well the Pekingese was having none of it, barking and growling, he darted into the middle of the street coming after me and my dog (who looked but pretty much ignored him), and then the retractable leash broke. The dog comes barreling at us, and his owner and the 2 yapping shihtzus after him.

At first I just stopped, thinking the dog would just bark and sniff Duke (my dog) and the guy could catch him and be off. But the dog doesn't do that, instead he growls and darts in and basically attacks my dog, completely unprovoked. My 50# dog yips, jumps aside, and then the hackles went up and he started growling, not his usual play growl, but a "back off or I will be forced to hurt you" growl. The Pekingese is now darting around in circles, growling at Duke, while I'm clutching his collar trying to keep my dog from killing the little **** and also dancing around trying to keep myself between them (and seeing if I can aim a good swift kick at the attacker). Meanwhile the owner is standing off yelling at his dog to come (it doens't) or to sit (my dog does a couple of times, his doesn't). His other two dogs are busy yapping their little heads off but thankfully don't get involved. Finally (read, 30 seconds later, but felt like forever), he manages to grab his dog and I practically bolt down the sidewalk with mine. An apology? A shamed face? Nope, nothing, the guy just walked away.

Halfway down the block I see a woman with a lab mix wagging its tail at us. She witnessed the altercation, and hurriedly crossed the street as we came down it. I wanted to shout at her, "it wasn't my dog's fault, that little ****forbrains attacked him!"

We made it home without further incident and as far as I can tell the other dog never drew blood.

Teach your dogs manners people, or next time the GSD your Pekingese picks on will rip his yappy little head off, or his angry mom will.
 
Lost my apple TV remote last night.. Husband and I have tore the house apart looking for it and it is no where to be found. This is really putting a damper on my summer binge watching Netflix plans. Bleh.
 
Contractor was just suppose to throw up a coat a paint and be on his way. That was about 3 hours ago and I just got a text from boss tell long me she expected me to be in by now... Yeah me too. I knew I should have just pretended to be sick... Now my boss is pissed off and I have no idea when I am going to be able to go in :/

It's such a little, slippery thing - I'd go for the cracks in the sofa first, like flip it backwards and check the liner. that sort of thing.

I don't think a puppy could do much than damage it - it's aluminum. But, puppy could hide it... maybe...

My very sweet but naughty equine patient decided to prance after another horse this morning, yanked me along and did the stomp and turn on my pinkie toe. The same toe I'm pretty sure I've broken at least a couple times. It is very very bruised and I'm now limping back and forth to the barn. Yaaaaay. :c

There's an app for iOS (not sure about other systems) that's a remote for Apple TV. I have to use it when mine disappears too. 🙂

Yea we have leather couches that the cushions don't come out of but we have scooped out the sides and nothing except popcorn some change and a string cheese still in the wrapper (Thank God!) which was brown and hard- Who knows how long imtht has been there!!

Fred was laying in his crate the entire time it went missing so I Highly doubt he was involved lol.. Normally I complain about him choosing the crate over snuggling with me, but in this instance I am thankful because it pretty much rules him out haha

YES! My husband found this online while looking for a replacement remote and we have now converted my iPad and iPhone into a remote 🙂 thank you apple for actually saving me money for once lol

The only issue about the app is that you need a remote to set it up hahaha - Thank goodness my best friend has an Apple TV as well so we were able to get it set up today!
 
The summer cat is outliving his welcome. He pays no mind to the water bottle, and is picking fights with my cat in the dead of night.
And my roommate, who is also a coworker (NEVER AGAIN) is just now asking about completing training that was supposed to be done at the beginning of the summer. That our supervisor sent an e-mail about on Monday. To be completed by today. She turns to me on the couch and says "Gwen, is this what we're supposed to do? I can't find it."
....THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE DONE TWO MONTHS AGO

YES! My husband found this online while looking for a replacement remote and we have now converted my iPad and iPhone into a remote 🙂 thank you apple for actually saving me money for once lol

For a fun time, try taking an apple remote into a classroom, wait until it's nice and quiet, and then hit play. Some folks will have it disabled but some won't - iTunes will open and play whatever. Haha.

I just sat in my dr's office for an hour waiting for a nurse appt for my 2nd hep B vaccine. I almost wanted to ask them where they kept the vaccines and I'd do it myself. I'd still be sitting there if I didn't get up and ask how much longer it would be. Apparently the reason was lazy nurse is lazy and doesn't feel like doing her job?
