Aww, wildcat...that's awful and I am so sorry:*(
Thanks guys 🙁 Just can't stop crying. I was expecting to bring her to vet school and have her forever. Just feels really unfair, but that's just life sometimes I guess.
Jmo, I'm directing this question to you but anyone who has an idea feel free to chime in 🙂
I found a worm in my guinea pig's cage this morning! I've never seen anything like it. I noticed her water bottle was leaking a little and the worm was by the moist area. I only saw 1. It was the length of a piece of rice and it was a perfect cylindrical shape (not flattish like a tape worm). It was a taupe clearish color with a darker area (almost black) on it.
Anyone have any idea what it could be????
My 6mo old best kitten ever that I've had since she was a day old threw a saddle thrombus this morning and I had to put her down. I've never been so devastated... after a string of really bad luck with kittens this summer I was so happy to have one that wasn't dying. I just.... I don't know what to do with myself. This hurts so bad.

Possibly a pin worm....we have seen a few with the piggies or buns. We also tell ppl to use heavy ceramic bowls instead of bottles. They spit back up the tubes for the bottles and you can never get them clean enough. Plus, you can more accurately judge how much they are drinking with a bowl. If their teeth hurt, they may not drink from the bottle but will still use a bowl.
Not to be argumentative... but I was curious about the bolded statement having just finished parasitology..
Pinworms seem to be a controversial finding in Guinea Pigs. If they occur they are actually more likely cecal worms (according to one source), worms in general are considered non-pathogenic in guinea pigs (according to many sources), or you should immediately go to the vet if you see one (according to a number of what I would call less reputable sources).
If that cleared up the subject, you are better than me.
I think he's going to break up with me though. I feel pretty sure.
For what it's worth, Abney, I think it was good of you to be honest with your feelings. Hang in there. *hugs*
Aaand he just told me he's not going to make it tonight, "can we meet tomorrow?" God.
No balls!
Abney, you are not an idiot. You expressed how you feel to someone. There is no idiocy involved in that. At least you are able to honestly express your feelings.
i just picked my bra up off my bed (one i never wear but it goes with my nice clothes that i needed for our SVM awards ceremony tonight) that i had on 2 hours ago just to see a small spider go running across the cupit either came from my bed 😱 or i was wearing it earlier😱😱 ahhhhhh (i dont mind spiders unless they're poisonous, in my bed, or on me)
And now I will be constantly poking around my guinea pig's cage to make sure he doesn't have any...
I kind of need to take him to the vet anyway though, just for a normal check up. I got him from someone else and I don't know if he's ever seen a vet.
Oh man you guys, I am scared out of my mind. I was walking my dogs on a trail along a busy road this morning. I rarely see anyone on this trail. This woman ran up behind us and I didn't hear her because there were a lot of cars. My dogs didn't appear to hear her either and she didn't announce herself. She sprinted right next to my dogs and my chocolate Lab, who is the most stable dog ever, got spooked and tried to take off in the other direction. My black Lab, who's got some insecurities and is currently in training, lunged and bit the woman on the thigh. She appeared to be in a lot of pain and I called her husband to come pick her up. I even offered to call 911. She wasn't sure if he broke the skin but said she would let me know when she gets home and takes her spandex pants off. She seemed pretty shaken up, as was I (he is NOT an aggressive dog) and she feels it was mostly her fault for not announcing herself. She said she doesn't want to go to the ER if its not necessary but I told her she must go if he broke the skin. I told her I would pay the bill.
If she goes to the ER, the doctor is obligated to report the incident to animal control. I'm terrified that he'll need to be put to sleep. But I wasn't breaking any laws ... They were both on 6' leashes. I left a message for my dog's trainer to see if she has any thoughts or suggestions but I haven't heard back from her yet.
I'm so upset and scared, I have no idea how I'm going to get through today. My husband is 5000 miles away and he's freaking out too.

I really hope it all works out. Our dogs are like our children and I would be crushed if I had to put him down.
I walk them every single day and people and other dogs walk past and he's fine. He's a rescue dog - he was found as a stray in a bad area infamous for backyard breeding. He was about a year old at the time and he wasn't socialized, wasn't neutered, and wasn't house trained. Of course now he's house trained and neutered and the socialization and training has been a process. He's currently in a class working on his CGC certification. His trainer says he definitely has some insecurities but isn't aggressive so we've been working on that.
His license with the city expired recently but he IS up to date on DAPP, Bordatella, and Rabies. He's on monthly flea and heart worm prevention.
Gosh, the lady startled ME! Like she literally came out of nowhere. She said she would call me to tell me what's going on and let me know if he broke the skin. It's been 3 hours and I haven't heard from her.
What I have motivation for: starting the third book of Game of Thrones, cooking, eating, painting my toes, listening to Christmas music.
What I don't have motivation for: studying for finals starting on Thursday, studying for three quizzes this week, adding to the paper worth 30% of the grade, doing the dishes.

I am right there with you.. No motivation to study at all and the exams are on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
And my head is killing me... want to cut out my eyes because they are making my brain hurt.
I had to work all day on Thanksgiving and the day after. My parents said they would set aside some leftovers for me. They didn't. 🙁
That would actually really upset me. What a bummer.
Update: Animal Control came out and I had to provide proof of vaccines and license. He's on a 10 day quarantine then life can resume as normal.
He's really not a bad dog. We walk 2x/day every day and walk by people and other dogs daily and he's always totally fine. I'm bummed he has to miss training class tomorrow and next Sunday 🙁
Stupid lady ... Seriously, who runs up behind 2 unfamiliar dogs when it's obvious they didn't see her (nor did I)? I'm paying her urgent care bill (she had to get a few stitches) and come to find out she doesn't have medical insurance, uuuggghhh. We don't even live in a low income or bad area so that was a shock.
