So today I got phone calls and a whole bunch of texts from my university saying there was a possible active shooter on campus in one of the buildings. Took a few hours to figure out what had happened, but thankfully it was just some idiot who proclaimed that he was "a nice guy and had a gun". Turns out he had a nerf gun in his bag. Good times.

What an idiot. He will hopefully get some jail time for that. Glad it wasn't anything more serious.

I heard about that on the news. XD At least it wasn't real, but what an idiot.

Ballin'. I'll give it a try. Although I have a hunch this recent bout is due to another medical issue I've been dealing with, since this is certainly unusual for me. Not emptying one's bladder all the way (which is in all likelihood what's been happening because of said medical issue) is a sure fire way to get a UTI 🙁

Just FYI it's a diuretic which may not be great to pair with impaired bladder emptying, might wanna ask a doctor!

I didn't think it was a diuretic, but thought that it's frequently paired with them. Maybe I'm wrong
 
I've never had Vista :shrug: It's always looked nice.

That being said, I love Windows 8! 😍 I prefer using keyboard shortcuts for everything. It was a bit of a learning curve, but I'm glad I upgraded.
 
I am so stressed. everything is piling up and I just can't handle it. Pretty sure I failed a physics exam yesterday, two presentations and a paper to do this weekend, work everyday in a place I hate, a messy house I have no time or desire to clean, and I have about 36 cents in my account right now. I think I'll go eat ice cream, watch grey's, and have an emotional breakdown. that usually helps 😎

We had something similar to that last year. A guy was walking around outside the dorms during hunting season with a gun. I don't think the guy was hostile, but people saw him and panicked and campus went on lock-down while they were trying to figure out what was going on.

The same night they also found somebody passed out in his car from an overdose. They were trying to help him, and he ended up getting in a fight with a security guard, and they found a bunch of freshmen with drugs in another unrelated incident.

I hope things get better for you. 🙁 It sucks hating work. It's so emotionally draining. Try not to worry about the test until you know your score. You don't know yet!

Have some ice cream and make a game plan. I always feel better after making a plan of action even in the most overwhelming times.

I just got home from the anatomy lab, and I can honestly say I would rather shower daily with my "fresh"/(rotten) thoracic limb as a sponge, than ever touch a cockroach EVER EVER again!
I grabbed my cabinet door to throw something in the trash and the little devil baby was RIGHT WHERE I GRABBED!!

On the topic of guns.. UGA has huge Humans vs Zombies games on campus. That must drive security nuts. haha

I had a pet one (madagascar) for a class and I gave him baths every couple of days because he had a fungal infection. Poor Milford didn't make it. Ended up putting him down. Then I got a girl named Millie. She won 2nd place in the distance race at the end of the semester.

Thanks to that class, I no longer mind them...which is probably a good thing since they apparently like to surprise us a lot in the lecture room we have classes in next year.

Then I shall pray for an insanely cold ice age. Even if it wipes me out with it. I literally didn't fall asleep for 4 hours.

Yeah...I'm odd. Let's just say he successfully made me like insects...Not that I hated them before, but I never pictured myself bathing a cockroach.

I like insects. Literally nothing else in the world bothers me besides cockroaches and diseased eyeballs :barf:

We did that at work a month or so ago to a grasshopper with a broken leg 🙁
 
Yesterday the OM at the vet hospital begged me to work since they are short-staffed this week. My boss at my full time job said I could take a personal day so I said yes, without realizing how nuts Thursdays are. Worked 11 hours straight with no break ...

Yesterday morning I had some sinus issues that I attributed to allergies but it's definitely a cold. I feel like death this morning (I'm sure yesterday didn't help) 🙁

And I had a crazy dream last night that vet schools posted interview scores by name on some website that everyone could see. I dreamed that I interviewed and each interviewer gave me a 2 or 3 out of 10 score and I was mortified :scared:
 
I'm having such a hard time finding my childhood vaccine records. The clinic I used to go to no longer exists (merged with another clinic about a decade ago) and the doctor I used to see has long since retired. My parents recently moved into a smaller place and most paperwork is shoved into boxes (with no organization) so it's like looking for a needle in a haystack - they both owned their own business for about 20 years so there is a ridiculous amount of paperwork in boxes!
Anyone else have this issue? Did you just have to get re-vaccinated for the mandatory vaccines?
 
macita- I was able to get proof of most of my required vaccinations from my undergrad. I sent my now lost childhood records to them when I enrolled and that was sufficient. Otherwise, your doctor can do titers to prove you were immunized.

I hate my job. I dread going to work daily. I worked at another hospital with a new grad (PennWe, actually) and had a great time but had to come back to this.

I actually was excited about going for a jog and it rained. ALL DAY.

I keep getting insulted at work and elsewhere and I'm not sure what I've done to deserve it.

I keep getting told at work that everything will be all right once we sit down and talk about it. No, thats not the biggest issue. Someone doesn't start cutting on your surgery because of communication issues. They start cutting on your pet because they have no respect for you or your medicine. They don't try to take your rooms because of communication either - they do so out of greed or again disrespect.

I'm done with it. I start wanting to cry when I even think about work.

Sigh. I hate this for you, dy. You just haven't found your place yet. You need to see if you can go out on dates with other hospitals. I realize you are probably bound and gagged at you current concentration camp, but I hope you can find a solution.

Welp, I just got home from a 10 hour shift during which I was only able to take like 3 sips of water. Pretty sure my UTI has turned into a full-blown kidney infection. Joy.
 
I would literally eat something salty and drink a lot of some sort of fluids. I get horrible irritation from riding horses all day and I go home and drink a near gallon of water to flush my bladder and kidneys.
 
More of a whine than a rant: I wanted a very specific book for my older sister and my nephew-to-be-in-six-weeks, because I remember my mom reading it to me when I was a kid and I can still recite most of the poems from it. Unfortunately, I just discovered it's out of print and substantially more expensive then I can really afford right now. 🙁

And it got worse today. one of the other doctors had a room this morning while he was supposed to be doing sx and I was supposed to be seeing rooms. There was 1 pet dropped off and they wanted a second opinion on some x-rays. So, since I had nothing to do, I started looking up the rads and pulling up items the dog was due for. I had the tech go get the dog. As this was happening, one my patients walked in and wanted to drop off. Both pets were written on the board and my name was next to both of them. He asked me why I was seeing both drop-offs. I explained I had already started seeing this pet when the walk in came in and I am the primary provider. He went off on me about how I shouldn't be seeing both pets on the board and I should redistribute. I explained the situation again and he continued to raise his voice at me.

I'm pretty sure it's because I asked him to stop trying to take rooms during my hour yesterday - we have a computer system and doctors see different hours. Every time it was a case he wanted, he would put his name on it. I asked him to stop doing that during my hour. He told me the front desk told him it was a walk in so it was ok. Even when they were appointments. Front desk says they never said that.

At least he gave me the cold shoulder for the rest of the day. In addition to throwing his name on all his rooms right away (presumably so I wouldn't take them). Talk about passive aggression.
