RANT HERE thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Sorry about your crappy clinician, cowgirl. 😡

My rant.... I'm almost asleep when I hear loud banging. The bf put the dogs outside to play... At midnight. Not outside for quick potty, but to play! 😕 And when I get up and tell him they can't play outside at this time of night he acts like I'm crazy. Um, nocturnal disease-carrying animals have been known to be in our yard! Plus, the hound howls when she is excited and I think its rude to subject our neighbors to that this late. Not to mention I'm almost asleep and the back yard and porch are right outside the bedroom.

Men... Ugh.

Had a really crappy day. Got screamed at by a clinician, for something I had no control over, in front of friends, classmates, residents, interns, techs, and clients. Yes, it was a full room. The "talk" lasted 16 minutes -a friend was oh so kind enough to time it.

I know I will make mistakes this year. I've made some major oopsies in the past, and it's more than likely it will happen again. I'm human. I own up to my mistakes. If I make a mistake, I will admit it and let the appropriate people know. This was not my fault, and I even documented all the nitty gritty details in the chart for you. Screaming at me is unnecessary. Screaming at me after I give my explanation for everything that's been going on is unnecessary. If you want to have a "chat" with me, take me somewhere private. And stay professional. I'm perfectly willing to do that and go through every step of my thought process. Again, yelling is bad. I'm going to be your colleague in less than year - can't we be nice about this? And when you are done raising your voice, please don't tell me "great job" in that sarcastic tone, and tell me "I should know enough to be a decent tech by now". That's insulting to me as a vet student and to all the amazing technicians out there. If you don't want to listen to me, why are you even asking me to explain my actions? When the resident on the case has to step in and defend me and later apologize to me, you. are. out. of. line.

UGH. It's been hours and this is still getting to me, even after quite a few drinks and some grocery-shopping-therapy (chocolate, anyone?) I am SO ready for this rotation to be over.

Report this to whoever is the student coordinator at your school. There is no reason you should have to put up with this, that clincian should be reprimanded.

One more photo from the storm. I had to share this one, from my friend's facebook.

Had a 9 MONTH OLD Doberman do this once. And every time he did it, the meat head owner would say "Good boy Boston" to try and "calm him down" :slap:
That cleared things up pretty quick for us 🙄

We have a 10 month old GSD that comes in, started showing teeth and growling at 6 months, and last time she was in she was on her hind legs at the end of the leash lunging towards the tech and the owner is just ambling around with her like the dog is just a kite in the breeze. seriously people...

I agree with this advice. There is no way in h*ll that is appropriate behavior for any work place, let alone an appropriate way to treat a student. I would report the situation ASAP. It sounds like you have lots of bystanders to back you up. Everyone makes a mistake now and then but that doesn't mean you should be verbally abused in front of your peers for it.

Went to grab my motorcycle helmet out of the shed this morning and there was a big mouse nest in it.

I have a second helmet in the same box, didn't have time to check it but hopefully the mice have left it alone. Helmets are waaaay too expensive, there's no way I can afford to buy a new one right now. 😡

Drove past Lake Calhoun today and there were trees and branches down everywhere after the doozy last night. Also - some sail boats upside down in the water... sucks.

We got lots more rain last night, but that was it. Green sky though! 😱 You guys got hit harder last night than we did.

Kuromi, my cat, got loose outside. She's an indoor cat, and prone to hiding when she gets scared, so lord knows where she is. I put food in the window that hopefully she'll smell, and I've got all the windows open in the apartment (basement apartment) in case she comes calling, but I'm really worried she won't come back. 🙁

I'm sure she'll turn up! Cats are smart

I'm sure she'll come back, she is smart. Fingers crossed she comes home tonight :luck:

The cat came back, the very next day (it was after midnight, so it counts), the cat came back, they thought it was a gonner, but the cat came back, she just couldn't stay away! 😀

And aside from being secured inside her carrier, she's never going outside ever again.

So I'm really peeved. My best friend moved to Ohio two years ago to get her phd. We talked all the time at first, and then it was less frequent. I figured she was just really busy and didn't think much of it. when she came home last summer she didn't even make time to see me. And then we talked even less. To the point where I would call or text and she wouldn't respond. now she's home and she didn't even tell me. We used to be such good friends and I don't have many. Just really stings a little...

I am really sorry :/ It really does stink when someone doesn't care enough to keep up a friendship with you. I've had something similar happen before, but the good thing is that I now have even more amazing friends than before.

My family has screwed up my road trip plans not once, not twice, but three times now. Not only has this cost me extra money, but it's rudely screwed the plans of the different people I'm staying with. And it makes ME look rude and flaky 😡
Worst of all, I don't get to hang out with Jam

I have started cutting out carbs from dinner, snacking for the the rest of the night and junk food in general (I do allow myself one cheat day). I am a very cranky person and all I want is ice cream 😡

Just found out that my father in law (who has been in multiple car wrecks and has had a broken neck, back, and knee replacement) has a loose vertebrae in his neck and is going to have to go in for surgery as soon as they can get him in. The surgery is very risky and the surgeon has only performed this surgery 15 times. Best case scenario he is in icu for a week after surgery, worst case they nick a blood vessel and he dies of a stroke. Husband is super worried and we were suppose to go to texas for a party for my niece who is now cancer free after several years of treatment for leukemia this weekend. A little stressed out right now. 🙁

I am very sorry to hear that. I hope it goes ok. Always scary when you can't do anything but wait. If you miss your niece's party, maybe ya'll can skype or something for a bit. Actually being able to talk and see each other may make you feel better. 🙂

Thanks lupin. Hoping I can be there for everyone and that the surgery will be earlier this week rather than later. Have to work thursday and Friday and having a feeling it is going to be a bad few days.

I am so stressed out. ugh. I just want to go to sleep. 🙁

I took one of my cats to meet my sister's dog today. Everything was fine, they were having fun chasing each other. Later in the morning I was petting Libby and felt something strange on the side of her face...it was a small mass that had ulcerated or been scratched open 🙁 I took her to the vet (with the dog in tow) and after an injection of antibiotics he said I had to bring her in next week. If it's not healing by then something is very wrong 🙁 Just last month she was diagnosed with renal insufficiency. She is only 7 🙁

Bf's ex still doesn't have a conclusive diagnosis. I'm trying my hardest to be supportive, but I'm also dealing with a family emergency of my own right now. It's incredibly hard to reassure him that she'll be okay, when the most support I ever get for my issue is a frowny face emoticon.

Still, at least he's talking to me about her. It would be a lot worse if he became completely closed off and refused to tell me anything. We just have to muddle our way through all this, I guess.

I think you need to tell him how you feel in as calmly a fashion as possible. It's not fair that you're taking on his emotional baggage while dealing with your own without an equal undertaking on him as well. If you don't, I worry it's going to become too much for you and you'll either snap at him or become closed off because you can't handle it anymore. Communication is always the key (and calm communication is better!). I'm not the best at communication, but I do know being honest about feelings will eliminate a lot of issues later.

My rant: I. Hate. People. Aside from the fact that I got cut off like 5 times on the way home and tailgated, I got out of work almost 30 minutes late because one of our clients didn't come to pick up his birds until 5 minutes after we closed, so we had to finish our clean up and such after he left. Why were his birds there? Because they were injured by other birds because he has them all way too close to each other. One had a broken leg and the other had half its beak almost completely ripped off (2nd one in a year). I held the bird while we finished removing the beak because there was no way to re-attach it. I came close to breaking down in tears for the poor thing. Then we had a lady bring in her 15 week old cockadoodle (whatever that combo is) that her 8 year old son threw. Yes, he threw this tiny little puppy. I asked him if he was trying to toss him on the couch or something and I got a mumbled answer and a yes to that he threw him. Then I found out they hadn't fed the dog for 18 hours because he wasn't eating. We force fed a bunch of nutri-cal because they hadn't tried to feed anything. Sometimes, I really wonder why some people have pets.

🙁 I am sorry Blackdog. At least you have us!

Living under the shadow of an ex is never fun. Done it before and will never do it again.

Sometimes, I really wonder why people have kids if they arent going to watch them around their pets. Especially small pets.
That is also very, very true or have kids at all. That, however, is a topic for another day I think.

Posting from under a shaking, drooling, and panting 70 pound lab mix. And above (he decided to use the burrow under mom technique) a digging, drooling, shaking and whining 35 pound australian shepherd.

Florida, y u lightning capital of US?! 😡

Getting ready for round 2 of storms. :scared:

You should. Most people are terrible people.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

🙁
I have 1.5 hours until I have to be at work for 6 days straight. I feel like I'm going to be sick to my stomach, I hate working at this place so much. Getting snapped at and rushed and generally feeling incompetent and unsure of myself are not my idea of a good time,

See ya'll in a week.:scared:🙁

Also, why tornadoes? We're not in the Midwest, it's uncool.

The wedding is on Sunday and with each day my mom gets progressively more nutty. Her ideas are so off the wall that she makes me feel like this is her wedding, not mine :bang:

Can this just be over??

My future mother in law, father in law, and grandmother in law are now 32 minutes late for our dinner date.... Feck, call and let me know your gonna be this late... It's not like you didn't know an hour ago that you are running behind.. I have too many things to be doing instead of waiting around on them... And SO wonders why I don't hang out with them more often....😡 😡

Very excited for you!!! Can't wait to creep on your FB pics hahaha

Yes, yes you do. Also, no real damage. Used to hurricanes, not their smaller, more evil brethren

RIP gazebo. 🙁

The winds were wicked last night. At least with tropical storms and hurricanes you know beforehand when they're coming.

Tornado warning again. Hopefully I got the alprazolam in the dogs soon enough tonight.

Amazing pic that bf's mom took from her condo in st Petersburg tonight. Ahhh!

Album of lightning at Albert Whitted Airport in St Pete tonight, for your enjoyment.

Oh, and funnel cloud.

I got the alprazolam in the dogs quick enough this time, thankfully. My aussie is just walking(stumbling...) around wondering what his feet are doing attached to the end of his legs.

One of my cats peed on my bed.

We had family visit us over the weekend (including small children that have a tendency to chase the cats, ugh) so if I had to guess I would say that it's in response to that but geeze, not really what I want to deal with at 10:45 as I'm about to go to bed. I also had a ton of sheets and pillows on my bed since I've been washing stuff the guests slept on so it wasn't just quilt + my sheets, it was like two other whole sheet sets in addition.

The cat I blame is already on Prozac for peeing. :bang: :annoyed:

I feel your pain. 🙁 It's gross to hop into bed and feel that wet spot and go, uhhhh.....Or walk into the room and get hit by cat pee smell. 👎

I just cleaned the litter box and there were zero pee spots in it. Plenty of poop, but no pee. I just got done searching my house, and couldn't smell/see any areas they have been using. And they've been drinking plenty of water.
😏

Currently laughing at the pre-med forum where they are all arguing about how best to feed dogs... :uhno: :uhno:

I really wish I didn't just search out that thread. The condescension! Argh. 😡
Ya we won't even get into how they were bashing vet med.... Pre-meds...
