I'd like to second this.
Except I'm flying out so I have no control over whether I'm leaving or not. And unfortunately crossing the border with an endangered species means that you have to have appointments with Environment Canada, US Fish and Wildlife, and the USDA port veterinarian. All of which must occur Monday through Friday between 8am and 2pm. With at least 72 hours prior notice.
So to recap: if my flight is grounded I lose my hotel room on Sunday night, the appointments Monday morning at the border, and then need another 3 days to give notice before I cross. Also, AirCanada will not fly birds and WestJet only flies here 3 days a week which means the soonest I would get home would be the following Friday. 😡

TLDR; stupid storm might keep me on the island an extra week.

you just reminded me that i should look into things to do in miami in case i get stranded there this weekend on my way home. worst case scenario, i'm going diving!!! getting stranded would be rather inconvenient and expensive though...

Does Westjet fly to Moncton? You could always ride to Moncton with me on Saturday if it looks like things are going to be bad on Sunday. I think St. John might have a major airport as well.

Looks like they don't fly on Saturdays. Of course. Thank you for the offer though 🙂

My husband just got $250 taken out of his bank account from a gym that he hasn't gone to in 2 years.... because he canceled the membership then... No bills, no automatic charges taken out, no calls.. nothing... until today they decide to take $250 out. He went it to speak with them and they said that they had no record of him canceling..... so why are they billing NOW!?!?! If they continued to send us bills/take it out of his account maybe we would have known that something wasn't done right in the first place.. now they want a copy of a signed cancelation from 2 years ago... WHO KEEPS THAT?!?! So annoyed!!!

A few people are heading to Halifax on the weekend, you might get a flight there. Hopefully you won't need to worry and the storm won't happen 🙂

I will have to look into it. I'm hoping that's the case 🙂

The same storm is hitting Buffalo right now and my newsfeed has pictures of people waist-deep in snow.

Hopefully it dumps it all there and burns out. Then I make it home and get to enjoy the snow too!

Got a (cheap) new bed for my dog today. Put it in her crate and left the house for an hour. Apparently, she didn't like it. Sigh.

Bought some coffee beans yesterday. Turns out they're decaf. My head feels like it's swimming in cotton balls.
 
So very hard to study for a Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday finals when my interview is this Sunday. Please let me get in, please, please.
 
It's literally 48 degrees in the airport. Forty. Eight. Degrees.
I am now convinced that Texans don't know heaters exist...
 
oh and there's a guy who keeps standing up, looking out the window, sitting down. It's making other people get up and look out the window but I'm sitting next to the window and there's nothing there... It's kinda freaking me out.



Update: I think he has spies that have seen my post while typing it.. he is now excessively walking by me. Abort the area.

i have no motivation left to study for my least favorite class ever. ahhhh! 15 more hours until i can say goodbye and good riddance to large animal surgery.

on the plus side, this chocolate cake i'm eating for dinner is amazing and delicious!
 
Welp. My flight got cancelled. I wasn't too surprised. But then, the next flight available wasn't until Tuesday. Okay, it is what is is.
"Let me put you on hold while I change your reservation."
*cue hold music*
"Oh, I'm sorry TooLove, but during the time we were talking that flight has been booked. I can get you a flight on Thursday."
Well that's no good, I could drive home faster than that. Aren't there any other airports I could fly out of?
"Sure, there's a flight leaving at 6am tomorrow out of an airport about 2 hours away."
Okay I'll take it.

Make it to said new airport in blizzard after 3 1/2 hours, get hotel, check new flight status....
CANCELLED.

Just got home for break after spending all day at a TNR...trying to unpack and apparently my trunk no longer opens up so now I don't have any of my stuff. This sucks.
 
Migraines. I hate them. I've basically been in bed/in the bathroom the last 24 hrs. Finally feel OK enough to sit up and I'm praying it doesn't come back. I had so much to do today, too! Blargh
 
My boyfriend is going to waaaaay too much trouble getting my Christmas gift this year. It's sweet and very flattering but it's kind of insane how much time and expense he's putting into this and it's stressing me out. And now I feel like the gift I got him isn't going to be very good in comparison. 🙁
 
This is not super ranty, but sort of ridiculous... went with a couple friends to see Frozen last night, and then went back to one of their places for some beer and watched the Princess and the Frog. About halfway through, the police knocked on his door and said there was a noise complaint about the volume of our TV.

Seriously, who does that? We're watching PRINCESS AND THE FROG... do you really think that if you knocked on our door and asked us to turn it down (idunno, maybe BEFORE calling the cops?) we wouldn't turn it down for you? sheesh. The cop was really nice and we obviously just turned down the TV, but I find it hilarious (but annoying) that that was the first party I've been to when the police were called, and it was four people and a disney movie.

Yeah...haven't done any of mine for this year and probably a good number from last year. I'll do them if I don't actually get my grades. It was really annoying last year because we would get one for every single person involved in Histo lab when I hadn't even interacted with like 90% of them.
 
My medication is making me fat. Like legit. When my doctor upped my dose this past time, I gained forty pounds in like 4 months. But I need to stay on this...I'm not happy.
 
Some a$$hole threw strychnine wrapped in meat into our yard poisoning our dogs. One of them died and it wasn't until the necropsy we knew what had happened. Three of our puppies also ate some but luckily I was able to get them in and start treatment before things got out of control, although one still isn't out of the woods yet. Karma, I hope you have something good planned for this individual because I'm pretty sure most of the things I have in mind would put me in jail.
 
I got a little too happy this morning with the warm, snow-melting weather and pranced a bit too hard onto a sheet of black ice. Knees went hard into the pavement and my purse went into a puddle. I decided to go back to my apartment and clean up whereupon I discovered that I skinned my index finger and was bleeding all over myself. After heading back out, I watched my bus go by without me. I had to wait another 15 minutes for the next bus as it started raining. I got to work 10 minutes later than usual which means I have to stay 10 minutes later. :depressed:

Today sucks. Fortunately, I was able to fix my MS Access form so that my data can, like, actually be saved to a spreadsheet.
 
Flew home for break and, of course, as soon as we land, my sinuses decide they want to make me miserable. Nothing like being unable to swallow without pain in my ears. This is why I prefer warm weather.
 
My cat that I raised from a 2 week old kitten is biting my sister in the face at night when she sleeps. UGH. NOT OKAY.

My roommate is furious with me because someone (not me) poisoned and killed one of the dogs and she refuses to talk to me about it. This has made the living situation so uncomfortable I now have to look into moving out of state less than 2wks before my interview. Anybody up in Pullman want to put a responsible, independent, hoping to get into vet school up there person for a week or two?
 
Mini-rant: my lips have been sooo chapped since I got home. No amount of Chapstick or moisturizer is helping. I'm drinking tons of water and not licking them..I don't understand!! I do not want to look like a clown.

😱 I can't believe no one has commented on this! What kind of awful person would do something like that...are you on bad terms with someone or do you know of anyone whom your dogs annoy greatly? That is heartbreaking, so sorry that that happened to you.
 
Think it was maybe a neighbor that threatened to shoot the dogs over the summer if they were in his cattle, but don't know. All of the neighbors are really shocked because nothing like this has ever happened here (I live in a town of about 300 people and there is nothing but BLM ground and ranch land as far as you can see).

do you guys have any of this in St. Kitts? dog poisoning isn't all that uncommon in Grenada - they douse things in paraquat.

very sorry fir your loss dydrmr01, thats a terrible way to lose an animal. people are certainly very very cruel sometimes.

Yep. He can be such a sweetheart when he wants to be. The behaviorist put him on Prozac...we'll see if that does anything.

Can't say I've ever heard of that happening here! I've only been here a few months so far though, and I was living on campus so I wasn't really exposed that much to the local culture of animal ownership on the island. I haven't heard any students mention it though and it wasn't something we were warned about ever. Is it something that the locals there do to each other or do they do it to students?
 
On this warm December day, I have discovered that my car's AC has crapped out on me 🙁 makes me really sad because I can longer justify dumping any more money into her (1998 pathfinder). Guess I will be car shopping during break.. :arghh:
 
Been up with my boyfriend who either has food poisoning or the flu and hasn't been able to keep anything down all night. I ate everything he did today. The power just went out. It's been raining non-stop here all day on top of 2 feet of snow melting. Sump pump is about 6 inches from overflowing. Fan-fricken-tastic.

I have read, but can't verify, that most people are misinformed that food poisoning usually is due to something you ate that day. Apparently it is usually from a few days ago...just takes that long for the bacteria to multiply to the clinical level....fwiw.

Depends what the cause is. I had horrible food poisoning in the Dominican Republic that set in after 6 hours. Salmonella and S. aureus can start within hours, Shigella or Campylobacter can take days.

Whatever it is, it appears I may have it. 🙁
