I think black edges was the biggest sign of fin rot, so maybe he's going to be more treatable than my guy. I wish I could give you the huge thing of aquarium salt I have now. Have you looked into Stress Coat as well? With all of the water changes he'll be going through, I've heard that stuff can do wondersYeah, it definitely sounds like you made the right decision.
Right now we're trying quarantine with aquarium salt and betta fix. Not seeing any improvement yet but it's only been a couple days. He's still active and everything, his fins just look pretty torn up, and black around the edges.

Mind you, I lived almost 2 hours away when I was home for the summer and driving up 2-3x a week to try and get this crapola sorted out. Kept having scheduled times to meet with the prof, and he kept blowing me off. For one of the meetings he scheduled with me, the dean looked on his calendar and said "Hmm...he's actually on vacation with his family and has been since last week."
