Sitting in my car just wanting to cry my eyes out. Euthanized a cat for this lady and her daughter earlier. She came back with a second cat and elected blood work. Cat coded after we were done collecting blood. I got cat back, then they euthanized. It was the right thing, but, ****. I hate tonight. Oh and I'm leaving over an hour late and have about 6 charts to still write when I get home. I hate today. I hate this week. I hate this month.

Your primary care provider has a "need to know" about this medical issue - especially if she or he is on the medical staff of the hospital in which you were an ER patient.

My primary care provider is in Oregon and I had the accident in Indiana where I go to school.

The root canal went fairly well! Not too bad at all, probably props to nitrous oxide lol

I feel you. I stepped on the scale last night and discovered I'm back up 5 lb. Not back to all time high but close. Depressing yet surprisingly not enough to make me not sample from the dessert tray today multiple times so far... sigh.
 
“I just want an interview” again and as hopeless as 7 years ago.
Residency match sucks.
And I’ve got impostor syndrome so bad I could probably cure others by absurdity.

Is it still a palpitation if you are aware of your pulse in your shoulder?
I took all my bedtime drugs and THEN remembered the Endocrinologist appt.

@Elkhart I'm so sorry! Hang in there, like you said nothing is official yet. Whatever happens I hope things work out for the best, whatever that ends up looking like for you!
 
Can you find someone to sublease your apartment if you decide to move home? That's a pretty common thing here.

I'm sorry ketoone. 🙁 I'm glad you're making plans and keeping your head up - whether you end up needing those plans or not, it's good to have a next step in mind. In the meantime, I hope you can relax a bit and take a break from the stress. We're here for you.
 
Lame rant but I hate how being cheated on has made me even more insecure than I was before as I'm sure I'm overanalyzing things that aren't there between the bf and I.


Oh and I'm spending the holidays alone/working.
 
I am so not ready for the holidays. It's my first holiday season (after 10 years) that I wont be with my ex and his family. First Christmas that I can't go home. I'm on call from the 21st to the 27th. My parents/brother have invited themselves here for the Christmas and I just don't want to deal with anyone. I at least convinced my parents to stay with my grandpa who lives close by since they're bringing their dogs and my brother is bringing his cat, and I have a dog and 3 cats in my tiny townhouse (with one bed, one couch, and two large bean bags). I've had 3 colic emergencies so far and euthanized 2 of them. My place is a mess, my family is going to be here tomorrow and I just want to lay here and do nothing. I also don't have finished gifts for anyone because I'm failing at being an adult.
 
.... when a client calls to tell you they're on the way with their dyspneic cat and they lead off with "the LAST time we were there you guys KILLED our other cat, but I GUESS we'll give you another chance."

Hey, yo, there are other referral centers. Don't feel obligated to come to this one...... (especially given that dyspneic cats can be pretty bad cases).

I dunno, but there are only two types of doctors: those that have wished for an incoming to be a DOA, and those that are lying about not wishing for it.

This one was a CHF that did present cyanotic and I'd guess within a few minutes of arrest, but fortunately responded super well to lasix and 6 hours later was like "Hey! Lemme play! I can breathe again!"

Sad part is, I think I <should> feel most satisfied about saving the cat's life. But in reality, I just feel mostly relieved that I don't have to worry about the already-confrontational owner just making my life miserable.

Maybe time for a vacation.

So. Much. This.

I had an in heat spay last week. Female owner was told 3 separate times there's an additional charge for the dog being in heat. I recommended waiting. Male owner became pissed when he picked up because of the extra charge. I've never seen our office manager that mad about a client but she was ****ing livid so he was being a douche.

Of course dog comes back earlier this week with swelling, feels like suture reaction. Dog isn't staying calm. Oh and the male dog who I also neutered keeps humping her. The whole time I was just thinking "I hope these jackwads don't go off on me about something I can't control."
 
I could really use some prayers or good vibes. Things aren’t good right now and my life seems to be falling apart. I’ll be ok, but it’s going to be a struggle for awhile. One thing I am grateful for is that I’ve had some amazing friends that have been there for me during this. But things just aren’t good right now and will probably get worse before they get better.
 
My paper got rejected by a second journal. Merry christmas to me.

Haven't had a rant in a while, but just so annoyed. Drove from Illinois to Colorado yesterday since classes didn't get out until the 22nd. Drive was going fine until the last 250 miles when it started to snow storm from North Platte on to Denver. I drive a truck and grew up in Colorado, so I wasn't concerned; slow and steady wins the race. Until we started going up a hill with a 100 miles left. Truck started to act like gas wasn't getting to the fuel pump despite fuel pump being a year old and having ~35 gallons of gas in the tank. But he pulls through and did fine. Until 24 miles to my parents' house. Where he died at a red light. Left my illinois house at 5 am yesterday and didn't get home till midnight (so 1 am illinois time). And I'm awake because it's 6:30 in illinois, which is when I normally get up and I can't get back to sleep.

I just really, really hope it's not fatal to the truck. I've been keeping him maintained because I honestly love this truck more than I love some family. He's normally dead reliable and just such a good truck. Hopefully, if it is the fuel pump, it's still under warranty cause it's a year old from when he died in Iowa last Thanksgiving.

Gas or diesel truck? If it's diesel and it's made within the last 10-15 years, it's probably a common rail fuel system, and do NOT let them fool you into thinking it's a fuel pump. It's almost never a fuel pump with a common rail system, almost always an injector issue (but can be something super cheap like worn wires to the FICM or injectors) but if your mechanic isn't all that good, they looooove to replace fuel pumps.

If it's a gas engine...I got nothing for you other than sympathy.

@batsenecal sorry to hear about your truck issues (yuck) but very happy you were able to get home (safely) and spend time with your family in Colorado.
