So jealous. I used to live down there, and went to a few meetings at Keeneland - it's the prettiest racetrack I've ever been to. Never got to do to Rood and Riddle though!

Oh gosh that sounds amazing! I've been to Kentucky three times now (twice in the past three years) to either visit or show at the Horse Park and that area around there is just beyond gorgeous. Have just been to the Horse Park and a private farm nearby, but we got detoured and drove by all the large fields and stunning barns and it's basically amazing to me.
 
Getting to hang out with a bunch of family members I don't get to see very often. 😀
 
I got to assist with sheep laparoscopic AI today! And if everything works out, I should get to help Thursday with the ET of the donor ewes that we inseminated today. The vet travels all over the country to do this, and she was wonderful to work with and kept me hopping.

I had an immunology test on thursday! And I think I did really well. Made me think he was making a joke and was gonna give us the real (hard) test eventually. :laugh:
 
Just moved into a new apartment in a city I love with the man I love.

There is a cat rescue in the province that helped me a few years ago with a stray. They are now interested in having me foster. I miss having critters around. All I have is Fat Mac, my mean gerbil.

I may have a cat from them next week.

I may not be able to adopt because of my living situation and finances but it's the least I could do.

My foster kitty might have a home!!! :biglove:

It was one of those "I can't let this one get put to sleep" kitties that was in for a losing battle, and I've had a ton of anxiety about this indefinite foster situation because as much as I'm rooting for this cat, I can't keep him.

After fostering two lost cause kittens, and having them both die on me, I'm soooo ready for a happy ending!
 
Ah, vet school perks - free pet food for the win! I got 2 cases of wet food and a bag of dry for my kitties this week. For $5. 😀 Color me delighted!
 
Last night I got to sleep in my brand new bed (my other one was at least 15 years old), in my peaceful new apartment. Just me and the cat. I'm going trail riding tomorrow with a bunch of classmates. I have cable, so last night I watched the season premiere of Doctor Who, and now I'm watching Pawn Stars. I rode my bike down to the school today to see how long it would take to commute, and on the way back, I saw a fox on the trail.

All of the above are raves. I'm very happy right now. 😀

That's just Hills - they had a ton of free dry food at the depot last week, so I grabbed a bag to go alone with my cans. AND I ordered my Purina yesterday. 😀 The girls eat Science Diet wet and Purina dry (plus the T/D dry), so I am ecstatic that we get both.
 
I just booked a week long cruise over winter break with my boyfriend!!😍 I cannot wait...Just gotta get through first semester:scared::lame:

Hehe, he went into our school's exotic clinic a week ago and the clinician was like "finally! an animal I can squish!" - apparently she had just birds and reptiles all day, and all the mammals kept cancelling on her. He's super chill and cuddly, so he's the perfect squishing ferret too, not like my super squirmy girls.
 
Just got that "this is the person I want to spend the rest of my life with" feeling. 😍
So happy I stuck through the tough shiz. I have one hell of a man. 🙂
 
I started a blog about my fearful mastiff at work, Samson. I figured it might be nice just to write everything down and if I did adopt him I could use it to keep the other volunteer who wanted him (but decided I need to adopt him) updated. Writing the post about the day they wanted to sleep him made me realize how much I love him. Samson's getting neutered this week and then coming home for a trial run. I'm pretty sure I'm going to adopt him.
 
$15 to get my classic NES working again? I'm stoked that I don't have to pay $60 for another system to keep the nostalgia alive.

Oh yeah... and I'm getting rats. I'm picking up a second-hand cage tomorrow. Found a woman who will give me 2 females after a home visit.

I feel a little crummy spending money for more animals. I've held off for SO long though. People in worse circumstances than me get cats and dogs. I know a cat or dog would be more difficult for me to care for primarily because of the costs.

It has been a while since I treated myself to something. So I'm getting rats 😛

I didn't think to ask what kind they are. They look to be standard. They have light coats (albino or diluted). One certainly has red eyes but the rest appear to be dark. We'll see! I'm not picky when it comes to colour.

What are you getting PP?

I'll upload some pictures when I get them!

I don't know much about rat breeds but am getting fancy/dumbo rats. I'm not worried about colors either, but if I had the chance I would pick out depending on color. But these are already owned, so no choice.

I'm really excited. I had to give my last two away when I lived with my mom, but these will stay! And they're coming with a what seems to be pretty big crate that she's selling me for $50.
 
I got a really nice solid wood(I think oak) dining table with 6" leaf and 4 solid chairs. The chairs are all wood, but sooo comfortable! For $200! :soexcited: I've been wanting a table like this for years.

I am picking up a MASSIVE cage tomorrow for $70.
Oh, the deals you find!

I am getting these from a woman who bred them. She's giving them away for free and wants to visit my home first, so I know I am not supporting a backyard breeder. I was not comfortable purchasing them from the local pet store. It has a very bad rep. In three of their stores, I have either been given bad advice and/or saw abuse in their fish department.

Rats are pretty scare in the classifieds online. There was one person selling their litter for $10 a piece and another that were getting rid of a male and female that lived together (seemed doubtful that one of them is fixed). Also, someone found a pet rat in their drive-way! I inquired about that but heard no response.

I have one gerbil left. Fat Mac. He's mean and he bites. I love him. I just wish he was somewhat friendly and cuddly.

My other ones were from a pet store and are now living the good life with a friend's little brother. Their mom cooks them pasta, rice etc every night and they have a huge cage.

From now on, I always want to take other people's pets when they can't keep them or foster animals. 🙂
