Worked one-on-one with one of the residents today in large animal (and I'm a small animal gal), and was able to rattle off drug withdrawal times when the resident decided it was time for a pop quiz. Thanks, brain! Didn't know that stuff was in there!

Also, my husband came back tonight from the business trip after being away for the week. Very happy about that, even though he refused to hug me because I "smell like a cow." Ha!

Go tigers. The game was just as nerve wracking the second time around

I think so! We pretty much just read short fiction and then work on writing our own and peer edit for the whole class.
Yup, that's a workshop. I have so many good memories from classes like that 😍

What type?
Galaxy S5. I'm finally sick of using my sister's ancient phone so I got an unlocked one on Amazon. Same type of phone I got a year and a half ago and murdered by dropping on a concrete floor 3 months later.

Booked my flight to Florida. I was originally going to go to NAVC but realized I can't exactly afford it in hindsight, so instead I'm going to go stay with some relatives for the week. Can't wait to get away from the cold and just relax for a week.

I hope you also bought a nice case...

It's still fairly early and our first test (over respiratory phys) is a week and half or so away, but so far this semester seems to be going much better than the last. I am also finding it less stressful and easier overall despite the bump in credit hours... our test schedule isn't quite as insane, either, which is appreciated. 🙂

My keys were also found yesterday, right as I had given up and relented to paying the nearly $500 I was quoted to replace them! Such a massive burden off of my shoulders, seriously.

Yay!!! Where were they?

I wanna guess freezer, because that's what would happen to me... 😛

If it were me they would have been in my hand the whole time

I lost my keys for three days once when I dropped them in a grocery bag that I then put straight in the fridge. Tore my house and the vet school apart looking for them, found them when I wanted some cheese.

Apparently the groundskeeper at my apartment complex picked them up and put them behind the front desk with a note saying that I needed to be called---they are electronic keys so it's easy to determine which unit they belong to... that never happened. They've been missing since last Tuesday and I've been scouring my walk to school and the vet school itself for them since with no luck. I had basically given up entirely yesterday. I wrote a check for the $200 it was going to cost to replace all of the electronic apartment keys (so that doesn't even include my car keys, neuroanatomy locker key, house keys...) to take to the main office, turned it in, and received my replacements. After I got back into my apartment, my phone started ringing and it was the front desk worker who basically said "Uhmmm... looking again, I think we have your keys. They were supposed to call you last week; did they not?"

So yeah. I never bothered asking the workers at the front desk about them because I'd figured that they'd contact me if they were found since it is so easy to link them back to the owner. Nope. Guess I'll just remember to explicitly ask them upfront if I lose something else. :smack:

That's amazing. But for real, losing your keys is so, so, so stressful. They're expensive to replace and you need them for virtually everything. It sucked so bad to not be able to drive myself to the store all of last week.

I once accidentally flushed my keys down the toilet at work (they fell out of my pocket and right down the drain right as I flushed). I had to borrow a coworkers car to drive home and get my spares.

I've accidentally flushed a phone down the toilet, so feel your pain there. Lol.

I almost flushed my pager down the toilet on like one of my first days of my internship...that would have been a great start.

I also flushed a pager down the toilet at home while I was pregnant. My dad wasn't talking to me at the time either (due to pregnancy). It backed up all the drains in our house and my mom called emergency plumbers to come out and fix it before my dad got home. She didn't want him to have another reason to be mad at me. Those poor plumbers were sweating trying to fix it on a deadline. Then my mom had to find a way to secretly pay them. I'm still not sure my dad knows about it.

Finally finished and turned in my student employment paperwork. Only took, like... a month and a half. Mostly because it requires me to go on main campus and I hate, hate, hate it and have been procrastinating that.

I pet sit for a couple two hours a day during the weekdays, and I just got a raise so I'm getting $175 a week for 10 hours a week to do my homework, play with the two puppies, and get on SDN[emoji5]

Thats so awesome! I am definitely jealous!! I need to find people who want a pet sitter now...

This post warmed my heart because I am very appreciate of pet sitters. @cdoconn, the couple and their 2 puppies must adore you! Congratulations on your raise!

When I am absent from my home for longer than 7 days, I like to find a responsible pet-friendly individual to stay in my home to take care of my cat. Last year, a pre-vet med student who was enrolled in summer classes stayed in my home when I was away. I live in a picturesque and peaceful community - so the pre-vet pet sitter spent a lot of time enjoying the ocean, lakes, and mountains ... and the cat, of course, spent most of her time sleeping and purring. Everyone was happy and contented! 🙂

Last year, a pre-vet med student who was enrolled in summer classes stayed in my home when I was away. I paid her a daily cash salary in advance ... plus stocked the home with her favorite food and beverages; and she was welcome to use anything in my home, or drive to a local grocery store (or pizza/burger/taco/ice cream shop) if she wanted even more food. They do!!!! They both work in construction and they were originally gone from the house from 6am-6pm, but they're having to work overtime and she's gone from 6am-9:30 pm. I take the pups on walks, let them play outside, take them to the dog park and they're not as energetic at night and they sleep well during the night (or so I'm told), so they love having me there.

I started doing odd chores around the house (doing dishes, washing towels, etc) because I had noticed it'd been a couple days since dishes were washed, etc, and so she was so grateful, she gave me more money per week just to sweep and mop the floors every other day. It works out really well for me, I'm getting animal experience hours, I'm getting money, I'm getting to play with puppies- it's a really good deal.

@cdoconn, you're being a great pet sitter and a great home-keeper, so that couple is very fortunate to have you. Well done!

Care.com !!!! I've found all of my pet sitting gigs through there

I'd use that for my cat when I go away for spring break but I don't have any money right now[emoji24] I currently have two different friends that are willing to watch her luckily. I'll keep that in mind though just in case

That's really nice. I like have that mutual system. It's nowhere near the intensity, but I basically "tutored" a girl while we took biochem 1 together, and she watched my snail [emoji222] for me over Christmas break so I didn't have to transport her all the way home.

FWIW, in addition to Care.com, some people go to the website called TrustedHousesitters.com for pet sitting opportunities.

[Disclaimer: I have never used TrustedHousesitters nor Care and I do not have any affiliation with TrustedHousesitters nor Care.]

Wow I didn't even know these pet sitting sites were a thing! Now that I think about it, it definitely makes sense. I am totally going to look into doing that 🙂

Come snuggle my cats (and ferrets and snake) and clean my house while I'm at work, I'll happily pay you. 😛

*looks at distance*
*cries*

Besides, you don't want me to be unattended at your house, all of your alcohol will magically disappear.

I think I have a Jimmy Johns problem. This is the... third? time I've ordered it in like a week and a half. I just lurf the Vito too much. 😍
My residentmate is addicted to JJs too. There is one about a block from the teaching hospital and it arrives within 5 minutes of ordering. I don't like their bread for some reason...I think it's the texture.

I've actually heard a lot of people say this exact thing. It seems that most of those I've talked to who don't like JJs don't like it because of the bread moreso than anything else.
When they order and I've forgotten lunch I get the Unwich thing and that makes it okay, but I also hate paying that much for lunch meat wrapped in lettuce I could make at home for like a third of the price.
