Teams headed in opposite directions lately. Both currently tied with 69 points, though. Always makes for exciting hockey. Philly leads season series 2-0. Saturday...

On Friday I quit my HORRIBLE job at the vet clinic, and I stood up for myself in the process! Which is something I never really do.. I am a giant push-over and usually just let people walk all over me... took me 18 months to finally quit but I am still in shock I did it and all the amazing things I said! YAY ME! 😀

Sometimes there's nothing better than giving people a big F you! when they deserve it. Good for you!

Thanks guys! It was so long overdue that I actually started crying from happiness lol! That place was stealing my soul... I'm so much happier already!!

Spoon - It's good you were able to do this. Too many times when we look back on situations, we wish we had stood up for ourselves thinking about all the things we "woulda' coulda' shoulda' said" but didn't. You will look back and see that you did. As I've often heard said, people can only treat you the way you let them treat you. You drew the line and let them know they couldn't treat you that way anymore. Also, I like to think that when people get told "the truth" (which they maybe have never heard before because so many people don't have the guts to say it), it may actually sink in on some level and may change the person hearing it for the better in the long run. You probably helped future employees to enjoy a better working environment. Good job on all fronts!

I got to participate in a spay and neuter day for feral cats yesterday and had a blast. When I got home, my aunt got me two contacts: one for a shelter and one with a vet practice. They both would like me to volunteer. Now going to find a way to work, volunteer at the place I already volunteer at, AND try and volunteer at both places. 🙂

f the flyers
👍

I thought this was supposed to be a RAVE HERE thread? Where's the love? :nono:

i'm raving about the flyers recent record right here 😀

Well at least your trash-talking has evolved since since your previous attempt.

I will be on my best behavior until after my interview. :lame:

We had an emergency today cat came in seizing and not breathing. When CPR failed the doctors were suspecting heartworms. I ask if they wanted to get blood to do a test so we may have an answer. They let me draw it from the heart. Note that the cat had already passed. I got it first stick. SO FREAKING COOL! The owners elected necropsy and we actually pulled 3 heartworms from the cats heart and lungs. :scared:

I LOVE dog show narration.
French bulldogs are "funny little clowns" and Finnish spitz are "wash 'n wear dogs."
And (if I'm remembering this correctly) apparently Italian greyhounds are rather needy...

Isn't it really unusual to have that many adult worms in a cat's heart? Cat must have had a massive heart or something 😛

I just made about 50 cupcakes and they are sparkly and frosty awesome. My co-workers will love them. Sparkly cookies too.

But, BEST thing about turning 25? This text from my Dad:
"Happy Birthday! 25 years ago you were the best Valentine gift ever, and still are! Have a great day!"

😀

We pulled one from the heart and 2 from the lungs.

That's such a sweet text from your dad.
Happy birthday!

Now, now, hasn't this forum taught you anything? No posting pictures of your cadavers or using them for entertainment--what would your urchin's mother say!

i really wanted to dissect it on my kitchen table after i found it at the beach on saturday, but decided that in the interests of remaining on good terms with my med school roommate (vet one didnt care) i should probably just wait and do it in the anatomy lab  my lab group thought it was pretty cool.

but yes, how insensitive of me not to consider its mother! 😳 😉

oh and p.s. i didn't kill it! i swear it was very dried out and dead when i found it in the sand!

Aaaand . . . we have more evidence for what most of us already know: med students are wusses. :meanie:

I edited the post because it looks weird on my iPhone.. I hope the picture is still up..

We call it a promise ring because it's pretty early.. But pretty much. 😉

It looked fine before, now we can't see it unless we click on the attachment 🙁

Thanks Bisbee!! I'd like to think that it will change the way they treat future employees but I highly doubt it, one women who has worked there for 15 years says they have never treated someone as badly as they treated me! I do know that I left them feeling like the jerks they were though, because all Friday afternoon they told the other employees (after I left) how horrible they felt about the whole situation... so at least for one day I made them feel bad about their actions! lol

Thank you! 😀 I'm super excited. Sadly it is too big, so he has to get it smaller and I have to wait a bit longer to wear it, but still :3

Awwww, Petpony!!! 😍😍
Super jealous!

I am T - 1 hour away from all-you-can-eat crablegs with the BF for Valentine's Day... and honestly, I don't even care that it is V-day, I am more excited about the crablegs. 😀

totally! this one has the strangest OCD habits (and i SWEAR i have nothing against weird OCD habits, but when you have to wash your hands twice after using the bathroom (the 2nd time after opening the door, BUT it's okay to defrost meat open in a pot of hot water for 6+ hours and then cook/eat it, i am going to judge and look at you strangely.)🙄

Fromthebox, that is SO SWEET.

And congrats PetPony, beautiful ring.

I don't have a specific rave. Just feeling good. 🙂 My boyfriend visited this weekend, our block is almost over, I'm looking forward to starting new classes, and I'm celebrating my birthday with scb44f and some other great friends this weekend.

I just paid money for an Android app for my first time ever... the SDN app! I just wanted to tell somebody 🙂

Our College (applied and natural sciences) has a T-shirt contest every year for the students within the college.

I won! I get $100 and a free T-shirt with MY design on it. 😀 Wooooohooo! Can I put that on my application as an honor/accomplishment if I have to apply again next year? Haha!

So sadly the ring was way too big and he had to go back to the store. They didn't have the same one again, but he got one that I love even more! It is gorgeous! I will post once I get a good picture of it.
