level 2 USA Hockey open-book referee test passed with 100/100. closed book and skate test aren't for another month but the open-book test is the most grueling part.

Sounds cool (but have no idea what you are talking about...).

USA Hockey as in the olympics?

lol no, maybe some day. it's only my second year as a referee. Every level you move up means that you can do higher level games, but each has more stringent testing and experience requirements as well.

USA Hockey is the main governing body for amateur ice hockey in the US - they are responsible for registering players, coaches and officials from all levels from youth up to NCAA, National teams, Olympics, etc, and adult recreational as well. They are in charge of the rules and regulations, set up means for player development (camps, select/elite teams, etc), and run regional and national playoff tournaments for youth and adult hockey and for international competitions played in the US, etc. It's not required for hockey organizations in the US to register with them or anything, but if the org is ever interested in developing a program that sets kids up for playing at high levels of hockey, they'd be stupid not to.

Usually we are required to get Purina One or Iams food for our guide dogs, but they are making an exception for the people getting discounts by the vet school. As a staff member, I can get Hills much cheaper than buying Purina at the store and I just got permission to change Ivy's food once she is done with her puppy food. Woohoo for saving even more money!

😍

((no more puppy picture. 🙁 ))

Puppy home last night, taking over my bed, loving her new dragon toy!

Tried out daycare today and is a very tired puppy now! But did well, except when the actual puppies got too much in her space.

We have a beautiful brindle mastiff at work that came in severely malnourished and pregnant. She went into early labor on Sunday and now has 12 healthy puppies. She's such a good momma and its adorable to watch her. When we assessed the puppies today she stayed right by us to make sure they were okay. Of course earlier today she didn't mind when I took her on a walk to give her a little bit of a break from the babies.

So I've been all excited because we thought the sloth at the zoo might be pregnant again. The last 3 years she's had a baby, but then dropped it. There was a possibility I was going to get to raise said sloth baby if that was the case again.

Rave: the sloth at the zoo was pregnant and had it's baby last Saturday.
Rave/Rant: mom didn't drop it and supposedly it's nursing well.
Rant: now I don't get a sloth baby!

I might be a tiny bit of a bad person because I'm disappointed something didn't get orphaned, but it was a sloth!

30 lbs of Hill's dog food for $13? Um, yes please. 🙂

Job interview the day after I get back from the AVMA!

I was offered a position with the clinic I interviewed with, shadowed, and did relief for after months of waiting.

I'm highly considering it. 4 days a week with a better boss sounds like awesome right now. Just have to talk it over with the hubby.

cons:
lower pay
no health/dental (but has AFLAC)
1 week vacation

Pros:
4 days a week
definite raise after 6 months (and every 6 mos for the next 2 years)
monthly bonuses
401k, profit sharing
paid CE

Congrats!! Definitely worth looking into, it sounds!

I'm waiting back from a professor after a few questions, but I might be able to do some swine research for credit this semester. :xf:

I shadowed at an equine referral clinic the other day, and it was awesome! I got to help with a necropsy and watch ultrasounds. They also said that I could come back next week too!

Really? That's awesome! My problem is that I don't drive. So I wouldn't e able to go out to the swine unit without help. If we can work something out with that, then I really want to do it!

I am eating breakfast in bed with my golden retriever on the morning of my last official day of full time employment for the next 4 years! Yeah, best husband ever!

Additional raves: not seeing angry tiny hands man in the foreseeable future and starting vet school in 3 days!!

(please remind me of this moment in approximately 2 months when I am crying in the C/O 2016 thread 😀)

I have a feeling I'll be reminding you a little before then 😉

My dogs are the -tear everything apart into 12 million little pieces- dogs and there has never been a toy that lasts more than 30 minutes.

I brought them home two teddy bears last week... One was ripped to shreds in 5 minutes (thanks to my female), but the one I gave to my male is still100% intact (well you know what I mean 😉 ) and he carries it every where. It's so cute.

Oh my god.

That pic of him sitting with it tucked under his right front is just... too... cute. He loves his teddy. 😍😍

Ridiculously cute! Have you ever tried the Kyjen toys? We had a family friend who had a boxer who tore everything, but treated those toys (he had the platypus 😀) like gold.

Emiloo, those pictures are adorable. Your remind me of my dog. When he would get a new toy, he would carry it everywhere and use it as a pillow. After about 3 or 4 months though he would slowly start to rip it open and pull the stuffing out of it. I miss that dog.
