So I was driving home on my lunch break yesterday and saw a seagull get hit by a car. He was sort of flopping around so I stopped and picked him up so he didn't have to die in the hot sun on the road. He was lateral, head limp. I put him on the passenger floorboards and turned around back to work to euthanize him and put him out of his misery. I wasn't sure he would even make it. He had no blood or gore trauma, but was gasping for breath and unresponsive. He was making sad dying seagull noises. I turned onto the road the shelter is on and he suddenly stood up, vomited 3 fish, a whole shrimp, and intact waffle fry on my floor mat. He then stumbled around the floor and wedged himself between the passenger door and the seat. I get to work and slowly open passenger door. He scurries into the backseat floorboards. At this point I was drawing an audience. I was trying to catch the bird without getting bit. He was feisty. After chasing him all around the car for a few minutes I finally just chased him out of the car. This was a terrible idea because now I was chasing him around the parking lot. After finally cornering him, I grabbed him. Wings felt fine. I did the "bird toss" to see if he could fly...sure enough he flies away, lands on the fence then takes off, never to be seen again.
I just....hahah. the reason I couldn't catch him is because I was laughing so hard. After all that, the stupid seagull was fine.
His mission here on earth stealing food from tourists was not over.
