Hi guys,
I just got the "re-review in mid-January" status from UOP 🙁 I was wondering for people from last year cycle, do you know how likely is it for us to score an interview in January? Also, if you do get invited, is it most likely that you'll just be on the alternate list?

Me too. Does anyone even get rejected from UoP? I feel like theres a thousand or two re-review apps..
 
All of you guys have "mid-January"? I got end of January! It's too bad, Pacific is a great school. Hopefully some of us will get lucky though.
 
I got mid january too.

Maybe they do it via alpha order? 1st half mid january, 2nd half end of january.

Lets test that theory. My last name starts with N.

I got mid-jan too - last name "M"

haha on their website... i didn't get an email about their update or anything so i just went and checked. i know... i'd just rather have a hard rejection lol
 
If you go onto the DDS application status portal on the UoP website...thats where you'll see it.

people still sorted in alpha order. Broken into two groups. But UOP felt that
us M-Z people have long been forced to wait behind the A-L people(graduation, roll call, etc) So they decided to be nice and do us first. give us a taste of what its like to go sooner. :laugh:

Hopefully this theory will last longer than 13 minutes.

My status supports this theory. Mid-Jan. End of the a'bet for me.

I'm not counting on anything. They were a reach for me and my little 19.

Haha good theory. My last name starts with P and I have end of January. Maybe P is the cutoff as opposed to M.
 
mid-January...last name begins with a C...

who knows....

I got the re-review in mid-January as well. I really don't know what to make of it. :xf:
Did anyone even think maybe it is mid vs. late based on our mail-out dates. Makes a lot of sense to me.
 
Add me to the list too..mine is probably a rejection because they love high PAT 🙁
 
I got Mid-January... Last name 'L'

I wonder what my chances are? Also, this will make decisions difficult. Because if I get accepted on Dec. 1 I will have 30 days to put the initial deposit. Depending on the school that can range from $500 - $1000.
 
I called UoP. She said UoP received ~3000 applicants each year and 1000 of them are competitive applicant, but they only interview about 250.
She said in my case, I'm a competitive applicant, but UoP just does not interview every competitive applicant. She couldn't disclose any other information. =(
They are still sending out interviews for January, but those with mid-January review will be for the second round of interview and could be for alternate seats.
Good luck everyone!!! It's hard to know what they look for specifically. Sometime being good is not good enough.

So the question is, if invited for an interview, and its most likely going to be for a spot on the waiting list for next years class, is it still worth it? Who here is will to wait a whole year just to go to UoP or are you going to go just your next best choice? You will graduate as a dentist around the same time? The debt you will have will most likely be different. I think it will be tough, but I really just want to get started and get my hands dirty in the dental field!!!

Oh what to do...😕
 
Same re-review status for me.

The only thing I would guess is, come January (or Feb), out of staters will have a much better chance than in-staters, if you were to get an interview, that is.

If I had something else already lined up I'd take it. I doubt UOP tells people in writing, waitlist this year gets you seat next year.

Its the same deal with those who want to go to a state school but only got accepted to a OOS or private school. 100K or so difference vs. the possibility of NEVER being accepted again.

I'll take the extra debt.
 
Gosh darn it. Mid-January, too. This was a humbling experience. lol
 
End of January (W); also to debunk any weird PAT theories people float around, it clearly does not mean as much as you think, and not just because I got a 27, but because a fair number on here have 22+ PAT scores, which is still very good.Guessing either my late app or QR score is what screwed me. Bah!

Would be cool with all the theories that we all get in!
 
Mid-January. I called to ask about it, and they said some get interviews, but it's extremely hard to get a spot.

doesn't seem like it. unless people got their apps delayed based on predents submitted date they should be earlier than me. mine was sent out till end of July and I got mid January.

I think you're right. I submitted mine 8/10 and it was sent out 8/19.

This is a big bummer.

I just can't think of why they would group ppl into EARLY, MID and END of January.

I have a new theory that is full proof.

UOP has a trained monkey that throws darts at the wall. Our names or at least a number/color corresponding to our names is used and it throws it and bam, early, mid, late. 😀

In all serious though I think the last possibility is likeability. whatever formula/criteria they use and they rank us according to that and re-review in that order.

3.9 GPA, 24AA, App complete end of September.
 
Just checked and "early January" for me. Last name "T"
 
I'm late January and my last name starts with A.
So, does every application go into re-review? Anybody get a different message?
Edit: Nevermind, answer is everyone gets re-reviewed (according to a post in the acceptance/rejection thread)

3.8 CGPA, 3.86 BCP, 23AA, 24 TS, 20 PAT

Got re-review end of January. Guess numbers alone wont get you an interview, right?

App completed September 23rd. I took the DAT September 9th, so go figure.

Sucks. I have a good amount of EC's too. Process must be really random or they are looking for something specific that we don't have. I am thinking it might be that I never took anatomy?!?!

Also read on another thread that everyone gets this re review message so I'll take it as a delayed rejection.
 
I had 7/18 mailing date w/ 4.0 and 23 DAT. Got the re-review mid january also. What in the heck are they looking for?!
