Suppose I have an equation N2 + 3H2-> 2NH3
I want to review the reaction rates...
-delta [h2]/t = -delta 3*[n2]/t correct?
also, when reaction rates are determined they are specified for a single reactant correct? -delta [h2]/t = reaction rate= k[n2]^a*[h2]^b ?
And this reaction rate is in no way related to a separate reaction rate for n2. in other words, the concentrations used to experimentally determine the values of a and b for h2 rate is different from the values to determine a and b for reaction rate -delta [n2]/t?
Also, these concepts can be seen on a graph where the curve of consumption of h2 should decrease 3 times faster than n2's curve...
in other words, over time there should be greater separation between the two reaction rates.
however, the rate of change of the reaction rate over time-that is- reaction rate vs time is not related to the above material.
and finally, the type of phase has nothing to do with reaction rates right? Unlike in equilibrium all types of phases, gases, solids liquids can be used in a reaction rate so as long as they are specified to react with one another...
