I'll be graduating from a UC this spring with a sub 3.0 GPA (~2.8) in general biology. Would it be unwise for me to apply to pharmacy school? If it is possible to get in with this GPA I was planning about taking a year off to gain experience in a pharmacy and study for the pcat. Do I need to pursue a post bacc?

Take the pcat and get above 90+ and you'll be set. It'll be hard to get into any Cali schools with that GPA. You're probably only eligible for maybe UCSF and north state unless you do a post bacc. I wouldn't unless you really want to stay in Cali. Get some pharmacy experience, do well on pcat and you'll get into many out of state schools. There's many threads on this.

fortunate for you but because more pharmacy schools are popping up every year, their standards are getting lower and lower. 2.8 GPA now has chance to get in. just get some good PCAT score (+70) and you will be in..

In my opinion, getting anywhere close to a 70 composite with a sub 3.0 GPA isn't good enough to show that you know the material. I'd say shoot for 85+.

You probably won't make it to any school except Northstate in CA (I think someone had a 2.94 GPA and got in this year) - any other school would be a long long shot. Schools outside of CA are very likely though, just aim for a 90+ PCAT and you'll have schools SENDING you stuff to apply to their schools (many are in desperate need for students to throw 35,000$ at them a year). Re-take any prereqs that you have lower than a C in, take the PCAT, and get some good EC under your belt; then, you can apply next cycle!
