Realistically, how many schools do I need to apply to with this stats?

GPA is around 3.7-3.8 (CC prereqs and at university now and I am not applying to temple, boston, or tufts)
DAT is 19/19/18 (lowest is 17 in RC).
will have around 100-200 hours of shadowing and some other EC.

How many of your prereqs are from the CC? Did your GPA start going downhill once you started taking classes at the 4-year?

60 credits at CC and all my prereqs are done there except microbiology(not yet taken), and physiology(not yet taken). I have taken animal behavior and cellbio/neuroscience, and biochem

GPA at CC 4.0 and GPA at uni is currently 4.0 but I am expecting a drop in the next few semesters (got 3 left)

Having your prereqs done at CC are going to hurt your application big time. I don't have experience with knowing exactly how bad. Maybe someone else does? Is there a reason you didn't take those classes at a 4 year?

BIG TIME??? I thought only 3 schools don't accept CC credits????😕

I saw lots of people got in with cc prereqs on this thread i believe...
 
I have heard of someone getting into a dental school with only CC pre-reqs, but it was just what someone said, there was no proof that I was aware. That was a friend of a friend thing, but I have no clue how accurate the statement is.

It hurts your chances because having some CC pre-reqs is okay, but it is widely believed that they will see that as low competition and your grades are inflated, compared to if you had gone to a 4 year university from the beginning, which would have lowered your GPA compared to a CC
 
you need to apply to 10-12 schools

To be honest, my 4 year university isn't that much harder. It is harder in a sense that you have to be good at looking for old exams and other resources. None of those were available at my CC lol... Also I don't think all CC inflate their grades.
 
It's all perception to be honest. People put down schools all the time just because of the name while never having attended the school or because of a couple of students that were not super bright. Just the way society is now.

good point. I understand.. But hopefully that won't be an issue for me since I am in a university ranked in the 60-70 nationally :laugh:

I shouldn't have said that. My local schools look down upon CC courses very heavily. There are some other schools that don't care as much. I'm used to giving advice based on the schools in my area. That said, there are some schools that are going to run from you with CC pre-requesites. Be sure to research what schools those are so you don't waste your money.

I am sorry but where does it say on their website that they heavily dislike CC credits? No offense but I thought those two schools actually have lower than average DAT scores and GPA?

I haven't scrutinized their websites. This comes from developing personal relationships with the schools over the last 5 years. As for GPA, Nebraska has been #1 for something like 13 of the last 15 years (second only to Harvard) and UMKC is consistently in the top 15.

UMKC is top 15 ??? AHAHAHAHAh sorry but I know a member on here who just got into UMKC with a 17AA with a 15 in gen chem and 17 in ochem. Please stop being a comedian. As far as nebraska, maybe you are right.
