I just took the prenaplex and scored a 78 (range of 62-99). Yikes! I am taking the Naplex in a week. Should I reschedule? I carefully read and answered the questions in the APhA book. I have been reviewing it for over a month now. I haven't looked at the online APhA questions yet, as I am not sure how to access them. I'm really really scared now though. I did the calculations in the APhA book, but I'm not sure if I did them correctly on the Pre-Naplex. Are there any other books I should study? What should I do in the next week to ensure I pass this thing? Sorry if I'm rambling. I'm just in panic mode about now. Thank you for your advice!!

A 78 is a barely passing score on the NAPLEX. You need a 75. Focus on the basics and on calculations. NAPLEX is a basic competency exam, not a challenge exam.
And apples taste different than oranges?Slightly off topic, but I felt the NAPLEX was much easier than the MCAT.

I don't know how indicative the KAPLAN PreNAPLEX test is of the actual exam (just took today) and got a 129/185 or about a 70% on the exam without prior review. Does KAPLAN correlate well with your actual exam scores on the test? I thought it was pretty easy overall despite not studying for it. The proctors told me that 46-50% is usually pretty good at this point in the game.
From my own experience concerning the MCAT, there is definitely a different emphasis as someone pointed out. I'm not sure if you can directly compare them because they test different functions. I feel the PreNAPLEX (which may not be indicative) was more memorization than anything else as compared to MCAT which was more application to see whether or not you can apply knowledge. Just my two cents.![]()
I'm quite ignorant here, but... you only need 75/185 to pass? Seems a bit too simple. Am I missing something here?
The scoring is kind of a mystery. I really think that paying attention in school and taking strong rotations should be enough for a lot of people. The test is pretty straightforward.
I took the pre-Naplex today after going through the RX Prep book. I got an 89.
I am kinda disappointed. I have scheduled to take my exam next week and now I'm not sure if Im ready.
What do you guys think? Should I reschedule?
Re-read what others have posted above..the NAPLEX is easy. People who fail teh exam, barring any extenuating circumstances, should not be pharmacists, period. Its a minimum competency exam.
I got a 99 on the pre-NAPLEX last year (before rotations). I didn't study much during rotations, just paid attention on rotations, etc. Had a baby right before graduation, and didn't study much because of that. My NAPLEX date was about 10 days after graduation. Took a Kaplan (paper) practice test a few days before the exam and scored around 80%. My NAPLEX score was 119.
