Just because there hasn't been one lately. And because I've been away studying for the past year and a half and don't know who all is still here. 😛

Maybe everyone is just working right now. Boo.

I have 2 solid months of clinic based rotations before I'm done. I'm not sure if I can make it. I was standing in urology clinic today after the upteenth BPH pt (which I don't even see by myself) and seriously considered flinging myself out the window. I might have tried had I not know it was safety glass (which it has to be or everyone who rotates through urology clinic would fling themselves out the window onto the sweet freedom of concrete below).

Urology clinic?! Is that something you signed up for willingly, or is it a required rotation? Sounds disgusting...

I'm still here. On cardio right now. Was great the first day...appeared to have no expectations and I just followed around (which is great if you don't want to do anything). Ever since then, I've been given reading assignments...but still following around. And he decided to start pimping. So over it.

Match is on Monday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And the nerves are high...otherwise I wouldn't still be awake. Other than the nap I took earlier...

Ugh. Studying for Step 2. Taking both parts this month. I'm really kicking myself in the a** now for waiting this long. I think I am the last person in my class to take CK. Oh well.

I want these 6 weeks to be over with so we can move on!

So glad I have Step II CK behind me. I wouldn't trade places with you even if it meant I could get out of the rest of my medicine sub-i. Sorry buddy, but it'll be behind you soon enough. But if it makes you feel any better lots of people around here have not yet taken either Step II, so you have plenty of company.

February 28th and the sweet freedom of no responsibilities until residency starts can't come soon enough. Sigh . . . time for rounds . . .

You're completely done with 4th year on the 28th??? If so, I hate you.

So as of right now, my 4th year is going to start with a month of vacation. Should I keep that there to study for and take step 2, or should i switch it up and make that my rural FP month and move my vacation to sometime in say... February or March so I can go skiing? 😀

I'm so jealous! I still have to finish this month of Capstone (a bunch of random lectures on private practice, insurance, legal issues, etc and renewing BLS) and take MICU next month. I can't wait til the end of March!

Anyone else have awesome plans for post-MS4 pre-residency break?

VEGAS!!!!! And of course attending the umpteen weddings that seemed to have popped up in April and May. Other than that, I'm contemplating a cruise, but I'll have to see what funds look like later in the semester.

I'm in the broke situation as well. Sucks to have responsibilities and things like bills to pay. I guess I could just skip out on bills like many people we know seem to do.

Hate away, 2/28 can't come soon enough for me. And yeah, it's pretty sweet. I got to this point by hoarding my vacation time rather than spreading it around 3rd/4th year.

I would love to do something awesome with all this time off like go to Thailand or Alaska, but I am kind of broke. My pad in NYC is paid up through the end of May so I'll probably just be bumming around here. Although with that much time off perhaps I could get a job in Alaska. I saw this show once where they pay you to get on a boat and catch fish/crab, etc. That can't be too difficult, right? I mean, I like fishing, can't be much different in the Bering Sea, right? (Only kidding . . . or am I?).

We only get 8 weeks of vacation TOTAL for years 3/4. No additional time for interviews, boards, etc. As a result, the earliest someone could be done (if they used no vacation) would be first week of April for us. GRRRR.

Hey fellow medicine sub-i'er. I agree it's definitely hard to care about medicine at this point, especially after being exposed to everything amazing about the ER . . .

Wow, that sucks. We have a fairly generous amount of time off (obviously). I just hope that I haven't forgotten everything I've learned in the last 3+ years . . .

Edit: And you all have permission to hate me/my schedule.

Yeah, I have a hefty dose of schedule envy. My school is just ass backwards...I'm still trying to figure out the point to even having a 4th year much beyond January.

I'm currently doing 4 weeks of ID right now, and like many of you I'm mentally checked out. I just show up, write my notes, and don't even offer much of an assessment and plan. I just write what the attending tells me to write.

Fortunately, much like Dakota, I'll be done with all my inpatient stuff (and pretty much school) at the end of this month. 👍

As for pre-residency plans, I'm taking a trip to Eastern Europe for a few weeks in May.

For Match Day, I'm thinking of starting the party early on St. Patrick's day, continuing the libations on Match Day, and finishing up the festivities in Vegas.

Ugh. I can't even imagine how great it must feel to be matching in about a month. I'm nipple deep in biochem right now reviewing for step 1 and I want to shoot myself. Not to mention repro just started and one of our profs is killer and has gone over at least 10 minutes each of his lectures.

Plus, our endocrine exam got rescheduled this week b/c of snow/bad weather and instead of putting the classes in the evening, they moved them to Saturday. Not that I'm going, but still, super lamezors.

Starting my pre-match party on Superbowl Sunday...nice way to start the waiting for the next day. Distractions help.

argghhh...all this happiness about almost being done with the waiting and a virus invaded my computer tonight!!!!!!!!

Time to clean it out...or get a new one since this one is already broken (just waiting for it to break one last time).

I've contemplated tossing my laptop at the wall or down the stairs multiple times this year already. Luckily for us though, we get new ones if we bring the pieces back to IT 😀. Fo' Free. I just don't want to have to deal with IT haha.

Random question - do you only rank programs at which you interviewed? Or is there a chance that they will still rank you on their list if you didnt interview or rotate through the program? In that case, what happens if you only get like... 2 interviews? Are you screwed?

I've never quite understood this question (and it gets asked a lot this time of year). How could this possibly happen? How many acceptance letters did you get from med schools you didn't apply to or who didn't offer you interviews? Same situation here...but more so.

There were ~30K applicants in the Match last year. Do you think some PD out there is going to rank all of them, on the off-chance that somebody s/he didn't interview would randomly put them on their rank list and that this person they'd never met would be a better fit for their program than all the people they did interview?

I'll play. I have one required rotation left until sweet, sweet freedom. Unfortunately, I have that rotation in March, during match week. I just hope I don't get the dreaded scramble email. Just thinking about it sends my heart into palpitations.

Has everyone submitted their ROL already? I need to sit down and really go through all the programs. I know my top choice but everything after that?

I haven't put together my ROL either. I know the top three, but after that it gets blurry. I'm couples matching too, which throws in an extra kink. Compromises are on the horizon.

3 weeks of med school left, last day 2/26. Going to take a couple small trips with wife and kids once im done. Other than that, im going to work on my golf game, my tan, and lose the spare tire ive developed on all the free food the last few months during interviews. ROL is done. Actually done/certified three times as my wife and i waffled on choices after our top 2.

I have a preliminary ROL, but I haven't even signed onto the NRMP yet. I've got my top 3 and bottom 3 pretty much set in stone, but the middle part is still in a bit of flux.

I have this weekend off, so I'm gonna work on the list a bit and, of course, watch the Superbowl on Sunday.

Funny thing. This kind of happened to me. Invited for interview. Canceled interview. Stated I would be ranked "likely" to match. :eyebrow:

This is exactly why I don't, and haven't, believed a single word coming from anybody's mouth the last four months. It's all smoke and mirrors.

Oh boy, I cant wait.... 😵. ::roll eyes::

EM, I think the most likely explanation is that they just confused their "interviewed" and "invited to interview" email lists.

Lame, no matter what way you cut it.

I figure as much...but it proves they can make those kinds of accidents.

Yeah something funny happened to me, too. I applied to a program, was rejected by said program in December, then offered an interview by the same program in January. I guess that means even though you get rejected, you're never out of the running. Haha, wierd.

Got out early from the medicine floors (hooray not being on call today), plenty of time to get ready for the Super Bowl. It's almost like being a normal person. Plans? Favorites? I'm rooting for the Saints...

Go Saints!

Super Bowl festivities are a good way to ameliorate machitis symptoms. Unfortuanetly the benefit is only temporary.

Temporary is all I need right now 🙂 22 hours and 50 minutes and counting down 🙂 This is when it pays to be an osteopath 😉

Obviously I am super excited. A smiley after every sentence ??? Not normally me but right now is my mood.
:zip::zip::zip:

Is there a thread up for this year's match results yet? Can't seem to find it if there is. Not that I'm prepping for and hoping for good news tomorrow or anything.

Good luck EM. No match results thread yet. Small # of people who have posted their ROLs. Start it up!

Looking forward to the game today.

Geaux Saints! :luck:

Wait, so does this mean you can go to that interview? Wouldn't they do a double take or something and revert back to their old decision or is that really a second chance?
