What do you think is a reasonable monthly payment for a single bedroom apartment (with utilities + cable/internet/phone). I know the cost of living varies all over the place, but I just wanted to see what some people were paying. Thanks

Sorry, but this is a really odd poll. I paid less than 500 in one market, and am now paying 1000 in another (and that's my mortgage, my apartment rents for over 1200!!!).

I was just trying to get a feel for what the average med student pays (or would be willing to pay) for a single bedroom apartment... sorry for the oddness

yeah, it all depends on where.
but if you insist, i'll chime in and say that i get nauseous thinking about paying a penny more than $750 for a 1br apt.

I've always heard it shouldn't be more than 25%-33% of your monthly income. Mine is just above 33% but will soon go down to 20% when I move.

not a penny over $600. even if it means moving to a sh*tty neighborhood and commuting. my budget used to be $400, but those are hard to find these days.

I live in Orange County, CA. $1200 for the P.O.S., easy. And I'm not going to live in a P.O.S....so, probably more like $1400. Why don't I just buy a house? Because the mortgage payments would be at least $3400/mo. Ugh!

Around $1000 is normal in Miami, though it seems to go up every year by 20%. Normal is too much.
