Hello,
I am a US citizen IMG and I just received a score of 221 on step 1. I am greatly disappointed with my score because my goal was to achieve a minimum of 230. I hope to one day achieve a residency in Emergency medicine, ID (i know i need to match into IM), or perhaps surgery. I am curious if those 3 are still a possibility with my low score. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Also, in several forums that I have read from other students who obtained the same score, they have different values next to their score of 221 (ex. 84, 91). Where do I locate what my score is equivalent to? Thank you in advance to anyone who takes the time to respond.

The two digit score means nothing. 221 isn't a low score.

You're fine. Kill CK, and try to take step 3, that's huge. The MAIN thing is situating yourself somewhere for US clinical experience (be it observership or whatever) and making contacts, where you stand a good chance of getting into that program (aka IMG friendly). EM is my dream too, it's quite competitive, doesn't mean it can't be done though with good scores and the right strings pulled. Gotta knock on all doors.
