What hiring agencies/recruiting services are good for someone seeking a way into the pharma industry or managed care industry? I've tried LinkedIn and haven't found much help from it with many of them being scammers/fakes.

Aerotek, Randstad, Kelly are ones i know top of my head. There are also some smaller ones like pinpoint pharma, momentum scientific, etc. These are in the chicago area btw. There might be other ones in your locality.

I've used Aerotek, Kelly, Joule, another one that got acquired by Inventiv, and a few smaller more localized ones. Sometimes it comes down more to the relationship the recruiting agent has with the hiring manager.

Supply and demand as well. If a recruiter has a tough time finding people to fill a spot, you might have easier time finding something. This isn't the case with pharmacists right now. They have a lot of candidates to fill fewer jobs.

Looking for things on the east coast NY/NJ. Will look into the ones you mentioned. Thanks!

If you are in the east coast you are lucky as there are a lot of pharmaceutical comapanies like pfizer and J&J. I would try there. Good luck

I know this sounds very naive, but honestly anything in to get my foot into pharma.
Well, NJ/NY is as good a place as you'll find to get a foot into pharma. Lot of competition amongst candidates, but also a lot of competition amongst companies for talent since there are so many vying for the same candidates. Enough that companies are sometimes willing to take a chance and train fresh and inexperienced HCPs.

I completely understand your response - just be aware that you can't come off as that through the hiring process.

Its best to sound like you're interested (even passionate) and focused on a specific function and therapeutic area, to the extent you did some looking into it to gain familiarity. Break it down into person, procedure, and tools.

What kind of person best fits the role and what qualities - and how do you demonstrate those every day in your current job? What procedures do these people follow in their job, and are there any parts can you relate to either through your experience or by doing some legwork? Finally, what kind of tools or apps do the people in this function use - and what have you used that you think your knowledge of can transfer over?

More specific and focused you can be with your examples, the better

I've always been tech savvy with an interest to get into software/IT down the line if pharmacy burnout does occur. I've coded a bit in my free time during school and definitely have an interest in the field. I'm still looking into the different paths in pharma that might be inclusive to some of these fields and have looked into quality assurance as a possible path. However, I'm not too sure on how I can leverage my PharmD into a field that doesn't really need the the clinical aspects of my degree.

If you are looking to go to IT just do it and apply wherever there is an opening. No need to waste time with pharma companies.

I wouldn't mind moving to someplace else less desirable temporarily for the experience. However the east coast is definitely preferred for me.
Look into eastern Kentucky or Southren WV. There are openings there. You will be in for a culture shock coming from any city though.

Looking to find a position where I can get a mix of both fields IT and clinical health/pharma. I know pharmacy informatics/analytics is still very niche but definitely looking to not waste my 6 years of schooling away :c

It's sunk cost. If you can get more money in IT than being a pharmacist, why does it matter anyway?
