I figured I would share some questions that I thought were just rediculous. I have now been on 5 interviews. Most people have had the same questions. Why path? Where do you see yourself in 10 yrs? What questions do you have for us?

So at this one program for my last interview of the day I had one attending (bloodbanker) ask me some absolutely rediculous questions. It totally took me off guard after lunch. Funny responses to the questions are welcome.

If you had a magic wand and could change one thing in the world what would you change? Remember that you can't change it back and you only get to wave it once.

If you could change one thing to make yourself a better doctor what would you change?

If someone gave you 1 million dollars to join their practice but to repay this debt you had to practice in a 3rd world country for a year what 3 books would you bring and why?

What is your best quality that you have to offer to pathology?

I seriously felt like it was a med school interview all over again.

Keep the list going

Interviewers are well aware that you have rehearsed your answers to the standard questions. Someone who cares about finding out how you think on your feet will ask these "rediculous" questions. I'd be interested to hear your responses - I'm sure they're less polished and more candid than than your answer to "Where do you see yourself in 10years."

One person asked what I would like to be doing in 3 years. I just stared for a second and said well I would like to be a 3rd year resident here of course and doing well in my education. The question was changed quickly to uh I mean 15 years from now. Maybe they were testing my critical listening skills.

LMAO that's a great response. I am sure that made an impression.

I knew a guy at an unnamed program that used to ask applicants to make him a sandwich, the best possible one they could come up with given the ingredients he offered. No questions, just the sandwich.

He explained to me why, which in hindsight was pure genius.

LMAO@theoretical, no an actual sandwich he ate for lunch each day he had a residency interview session.

So why?

Because he got a free sandwich? I thought that was obvious from the post...

I thought he was reading into what ingredients they chose or how they prepared it to determine their personality or whatever... I don't know!
