Regis University anyone?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Congrats to all who have been accepted. I got accepted to Regis as well, but am cautious about the accredition status. 😕

You should be somewhat cautious, because if classes were to start next week, they would not be offering classes. If this is your only acceptance, then put the $350 down. If they don't end up receiving precandidate status, then you will get your money back. For me, I really liked their curriculum, but I was accepted elsewhere and I am currently holding seats at two schools. The decision was a really easy one to put the deposit in at another school since Regis will not know their fate for this fall until the end of June. If I were to hold out for Regis and not accept elsewhere, I would be really upset if they did not gain precandidate status.

All that said, listening to all the professors there, I truly believe they will receive precandidate status in June. Look at it this way...

$350 is a very cheap insurance policy.

I've been accepted else where, but am really thinking hard about regis university, because of its reputation and the faculty. Hopefully they get pre-accredidation status.

I also put my deposits to two of accepted schools, which are Regis and CND. I'm considering to attend CND because of its location (Baltimore, MD), lil bit cheaper tuitions, and its pre-candidate status.
What is your other accepted school's accreditation?

Wow, I'm in the exact same position, already deposited to ND also. I like everything about ND better except its location 👎, Regis is in my homestate, can't argue that. I think i once in june when it gets pre-canidate status people will like it more haha

I didn't realize that regis had zero accreditation status till my interview. They had plans to open last year and they did not get the proper accreditation, so those plans fell through.

haha i am in the same situation....i am debating between CND and regis...i really liked CND but not too sure about the area (i am from southern California)...regis seemed like a very nice school and located in a nice city...but the accreditation status of it is forcing me to lean towards CND..

It looks like quite a few of us are in this exact same situation....CND or REGIS? I'm from Los Angeles and baltimore felt like another country. There seemed to be plenty of surrounding farmland. So I got about 3 days to place a deposit down with CND...Do I place it and ensure myself some security? Or do I take the risk and wait til June to find out if Regis got Pre-Cand status?

Does anyone have doubts that Regis will get pre-cand? Everything seemed structured well and the faculty/staff seem to be enthusiastically involved with things.

Just put the deposit down...i am fortunate to have my parents pay for both of them so it gives me some time to think about it....it seems like regis is on pace to get accredited, they wouldnt be sending acceptances if they knew there was a chance of them not receiving it..but i agree with you about how structured everything was at the interview..they did a much better job on presenting themselves than CND.

I'd bite the bullet and kiss your $750 away to ND regardless, just in case a freak accident happens at regis and they don't get accredited you'll be regreting it.

But on that note...I had no clue regis applied and didn't get accredited last year!!!! That freaks me out! I don't want to move 👎

Well, I'm from Southern CA too. At least you get accepted to CND. I think they have government loan. I got accepted to Regis and Calnorthstate. Both of them are not very good choice. CalNorthstate does not have gov. loan. I have to borrow private loan, interest up to 15% or more. Also, CalNorthstate is precandidate. I have to put 1,000 deposit for calnorthstate, not sure if Regis will get precand in June. I think CND is much better than Calnorthstate, the school is rent.

Does anyone know if Regis has off campus housing for pharm. student or some sort of housing that the school own for grad. student?

I got accepted to Regis. 🙂🙂

I was at the March 16 interview. When do we put the $350 deposit down. Are they going to mail us some paperwork.

You should get paperwork in the mail in a few days. The deposit can be mailed in, and as I recall you got a couple of weeks to send it in.

Congrats!!!!

Is it just me or did everyone interviewed got accepted? 😕 Plus, where can a poor student get $21,000 to pay for tuition ...

I got this from APCE

Regis University School of Pharmacy
Doctor of Pharmacy Program: The School voluntarily withdrew their application for consideration at the January 2009 meeting and requested to resubmit their application after a focused on-site visit in spring 2009.

Also, does anyone want to roommate if ... i decide to go there?

So far they've interviewed about 150 and they have one more session in April, which will make about 200 for 50 spots. They expect to have a lot accepted students go elsewhere. That's to be expected with the first class. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that 125-150 students are accepted before they end up with 50 that will attend.

As for the ACPE quote... I talked with several profs and it seems like had they pursued the Jan accredidation, they would not have earned it. I was told one thing they didn't have in place was a specified professor to each class. They had set up the curriculum and schedules, but did not know they also had to specify a professor for each of the courses. All of the profs I spoke with gave me the impression that they only had to complete a few minor things for the ACPE. I believe they were given reasonable assurances that they will receive precandidate status if they followed through with the final things that the ACPE wants to see, otherwise, I don't think they would have been conducting interviews.

I declined my Regis acceptance last night, but I will have to give up taking back my deposit. 🙁
One more spot for you guys! :xf:

I received my acceptance for Regis and LECOM what do you guys think of the two.. any insight on these institutions. The tuition difference is tremendous, and I'm confused about the first year being undergraduate and I dont quite understand why it has to be like that. help?😕

Well, if LECOM is accredited and cheaper why wouldn't you just go there?

This should be a no brainer decision. LECOM is an accredited school. Why would you want to take a chance going to Regis, a non-accredited school? It really baffled me that you could not make this decision on your own.

Well said...

Lecom bradenton.. i shoulda specified.. it has candidate but is still a new school.

I am from CA so I would prefer to stay closer to home and I also have lots of family in Colorado and thats why I'm considering Regis because of location.

As for the school itself.. I've talked a lot with the professors and the faculty there about accreditation and I didn't think that it would be a problem.. it wasn't until I read on SDN that I saw they had initially withdrew from the Jan ACPE meeting date so I was wondering if any one else knew anything that I didn't know.

While LECOM Bradenton is a new school, LECOM is not and being a 2nd campus operating under the same umbrella, they are fully accredited.

I'm nervous :scared:. I haven't received an invite yet. Are my chances of getting an invite possible?

Keep your head up. They have extended invites for April 20th (a tech I work with received one) and I'm certain that there will be some people who will decline the interview.

I just got an interview invite from Drake Pharmacy school. Does anyone know anything about it? The SDN is not very specific about the school and interview. Seem like no one Know anything about it.

Has anybody heard anything about the next interview yet? I know there will be another one on Apr. 20th. But Brian told me they might extend another interview date on May. Not sure though, kind of curious here, b/c I haven't got invited.

A coworker of mine received an invite for the 20th and your right about there possibly being an interview day in May. Brian told me they have sets aside some days to interview in May, but they're not sure if they will use them or not.

Hey cdhoward. You said your coworker received an invite for the April 20th interview at Regis, can you ask him/her when he/she received the invite? Was it by email? Thanks!🙂
Also, I saw in an earlier post that you were rejected from Campbell... sorry... did they send you a letter? Also, if you don't mind me asking, when did you apply to Campbell and when did you apply to Regis? I ask, because I applied later in the application process (as I wanted my fall post-BS class grades available) and I am getting a little anxious waiting to hear something.

It was sent via email around April 1st. Not sure of the exact day.

Campbell sent their rejection (without an interview) via email sometime back in December, I think.

I applied to Campbell in August (supp completed in Oct). As for Regis, I applied toward the end of September.

I interviewed feb 16, got waitlisted, and today brian sent me an admitted email. I guess a lot of people have declined. Did anyone else get pulled from the waitlist? It would be nice to be closer to home (so cal) but I'm declining my seat. GL everyone.

No! Everyone who interviewed got in or waitlisted, except for me. I got rejected. Smack. But then I got accepted at the University of Colorado. Huh?

Trade you! haha

Trade you! haha

Sorry, no can do. Like I would have made a different decision if I got accepted both places... anyway, I think it'd be great for students from the two Colorado schools to form strong relationships. Let's try to make that happen!

I wouldn't let Regis's accreditation status make your decision. The institution has a great reputation, and the school stands to lose a lot of money and considerable "cred" if the accreditation falls through. Nothing I have seen out of the University, either in their pharmacy program or elsewhere, leads me to doubt they will be fully accredited in 2013.

Plus, the idea of being in on the ground floor of a program with a small class size is pretty appealing... know all the profs, direct input on curricula and such...

Hey Guys,
I was wondering what kind of questions did they ask you during your MMI's? Were the questions really general? or were they very particular and situational? Is it really as bad as it seems, or comfortable. If you can just post some sample questions that would be great 🙂

I bet they're using the same questions, so I'm not going to post them. They were of varying degrees of difficulty. One was a real lay-up; one or two were pretty difficult; none of them require any advance education or preparation. Just stay calm, and remember that you get eight chances so you can't blow your whole interview on one question!

It seems hard to prepare for if they are asking you such random questions. It is nerve-wracking.

You are in the room by yourself for 2 minutes to formulate a response, so its not that difficult. It's certainly a lot better than having to respond instantly.

There are no wrong answers either. Every answer you provide is the correct answer - they want to know how you feel or what you would do.

Has anyone heard a confirmation on a May interview? Or is this April 20th the last round?

I just checked their website for updates, and it posted these dates as well: May 15, 2009 and May 22, 2009.

I remember one of them was who is your favorite author...😉

Hey guys,
I had my interview at Regis and you were right! The MMI's are not that bad at all.. actually interesting and fun. Thanks for all of your advice.
