A strange dream woke me up last night. I just wanted to know if anyone has heard of this happening.

If you area accepted to a school that is full and has a huge wait list. Then the Adcom decideds to reject one of the accepted students to take one from the wait list that will bring the school's stats up.

This woke me up last night because I think my low stats could qualify for this type of switch. Has anyone heard of a student being "switched" to increase the school's accepted MCAT/GPA stats?

School is so close, it was the first bit of doubt I have felt in months. Just can't believe I was accepted and still waiting for that rejection letter, "sorry we made a mistake, but please take this coupon to the bookstore and sticker to our school as a token of our regret."

Wow, the application process really gets to some people. But honestly, I've had that feeling at some points this year and its completely normal.

If you really want to see the effects of the application process then go up to a student who will be taking the MCATs soon. Before they notice you're there, say "Open you're test booklets you may begin!!" :scared: :scared:

After theyre done freaking out, you'll both have a good laugh.

The only similar thing I know of is someone who was accepted at school A but gave up his spot at school A when he got off the waiting list at school B. I guess there was a miscommunication because the school B offered him a spot (or he thought they had) before they had totally checked out his record. He had failed one course and that made him ineligible at school B, so they rescinded their offer. By the time he got back to school A to say he'd changed his mind and could he have his spot back, it was too late and schoool A had already given his spot to someone else. Interestingly, school A was DO and school B was MD. I guess that's just another way of saying don't look a gift horse in the mouth...

You are fine. Try to relax. After 2 years, I still sometimes think there has been some sort of crazy mix-up and I really wasn't supposed to be here. But I have done fine so far, and you will too.

Best of luck!

Thanks for the happy thoughts, Anonymizer... its positive thinking that got you here, just remember to roll with the punches. I don't think that could happen... hope that wouldn't happen, but I don't think it would help a school's stats just to change out one student.

Happy Sleeping 😴

thanks for giving me something else to worry about.....

I couldn't imagine them ever doing that, wouldn't that lead to some type of legal action?

Hey, Anonymizer! I don't think that is legal. But, if it makes you feel better, I have had my share of doubts, too. My are more on the lines of getting sick, or in an accident and not being able to attend. I have been so preoccupied with getting everything in place, that I almost caused an accident today. I think we both need to chill!

I was thinking as I logged in to this forum that I really don't like sitting in front of the computer and chatting with folks I can't see. I am a bit of a people person and prefer face-to-face encounters. Anyway, I am glad I logged on. It encourages me to hear there are others who have the same fears I do. I always figured that if a school would let me in they must think I have what it takes to complete it. Just before I left for my very first interview three years ago I confessed to a good friend that I wasn't afraid of being rejected, I was afraid of being accepted (because I didn't think I had the right stuff). After three years of rejection letters, I got over that! I couldn't be happier if I had won the lottery!

Thanks for the sigh of relief. Now I can sleep a little bit better, maybe it is a little shell shock from the application period. I knew I would never be the same after going through that. I wonder if their are any cases of PTSD among med school applicants.

No problem, just a few more weeks of self doubt. :scared:

I can't believe you guys are worrying about this.

No medical school would rescind an acceptance in order to raise their stats-you could probably sue them if they did. Think of the controversy it would cause for a school if it becomes known to take back acceptances.

Worrying about getting accepted to medical school is over....the time has come to worry about paying for it.

That is the worst idea I've ever heard. Yes, this is horrible, this idea.
