I *heart* you Taenia, I mean after all, who doesn't love a tapeworm?? 🙂

Rejected from purdue today via snail mail.

rejected today from Purdue via snail mail

Hey.... did Purdue send the letters to your home address or college address???

my home and school address are the same for me

Mine has changed too from "pending application review" to "No confirmation recieved." It seems that this change means that you have been invited to interview 🙂 and the formal invite will follow (via snail mail maybe?) See the thread entitled "Illinois" for more on this...

to everyone being rejected from purdue...were you in-state or out of state?

I know one person who applied to purdue as out an out of state student and received the rejection letter.

rejected today via email from Murdoch

Minnesota today, snail mail, out of state. I glad they let us know so soon!

Minnesota today. snail-mail. out of state

Minnesota. Snail mail. Out of State

Rejection today. Minnesota via snail mail. I'm out of state.

CSU today, snail mail, in-state.

Actually, its a huge relief (not the usual reaction!)- living here for almost 2 years and I finally figured out that CSU is just not the right school for me.

It was 5 degrees outside today- I am an Arizona girl: give me Western and southern CA any day! 😍

csu, in state, snail mail
here's for next year!

Sorry to hear about CSU, guys...I'm out of state and haven't heard a thing. Any thoughts? You both are in-state, so do you think they're doing those first?

CSU always sends out in-state decisions before out of state. I don't know the time interval between them, but in the past it has not been right away.

For Colorado: This is the same day I heard last year for in state (letter dated January 12 again).

When I applied from out of state, in 2004 it was dated Feb 2nd. I have two friends (out of state AZ, not WICHE) who had gotten rejection letters, and then gotten the acceptance phone calls- one in July and one in August. They had not been informed of being waitlisted.

So I would not be giving up hope any time soon. Good Luck!!!
Love the tapeworm reference- took me a while to catch on.

Minnesota, in my neighbor's snail mail (kinda scary!)...

As i've said before, this isn't relevant to you because i'm english but still.

Was rejected from Royal Veterinary College (London) and Glasgow this week. Only got one left now!

We're all here with a common goal and to show our support for one another. Good luck on your remaining school & please keep posting!

Thanks. It does help to be able to read other peoples posts about what they are going through, even if the situation isn't quite the same.

I'll make sure i let you know if i get anywhere with Liverpool!

Katie

Rejected by Minnesota via snail mail on Saturday (yesterday).

🙁

I believe the letter (which was read to me, so I don't have it on me) said the average GPA admitted was 3.67.

1 - Cornell - instate - email 1/15

2 - Minnesota- out of state- snail mail - 1/13

My letter didn't make a mention of GPA but did contain some other interesting information:

"A total of 1,010 applications were received for admission to the fall 2007 entering veterinary class. Your application was one of approximately 475 that were reviewed by committee members for consideration of an interview. Out of those applicants, 230 individuals are being invited to the campus for a personal interview, which is the final phase of our application process. A class of 90 will be admitted for fall 2007."

Minnesota - today via voicemail from someone reading my snail mail (I'm out enjoying vacation!). From what it sounds like, I got the same letter as you Tsuki. Oh well - it's really cold there anyway!!

Wow... I dunno what they mean by "reviewed for consideration of an interview" but it suggests that half the applicants were basically rejected without anyone even reading their application. I wonder if that was just applying a GPA/GRE cutoff, or ditching people who didn't meet all the requirements. And if so, did that many people really just fail to pay attention to the numbers or decide to take a long shot? Or were they basically good, complete apps who didn't even get a chance to win them over with their personal statement? The more I think about the odds in this game, the scarier it gets.

Hehe, sorry. I was lazy and didn't include an important part of their letter.

"We have completed the two initial phases of our review of applications which includes the review of your academic credentials and the subjective portion of your application including your personal statement, reference/evaluation letters, experience with veterinarians, experience with animals and the personal strengths you would bring to the program.

Although your acedemic credentials meet the expectations of the Admissions Comittee, the evaluation of the subjective portion of your application (personal statement, animal experience, veterinary experience, etc.) were not as strong as other applicants to the program."

Basically, my grades were good but the rest of my app stunk 🙂

me too...it's as if they built us up before they stomped our hearts out! 🙂

Cornell, email/link, out of state 1/17

Purdue rejection, in-state, and I interviewed with them last year.

This after taking four of Purdue's first-year veterinary classes and excelling (veterinary neuro, principles of cell and tissue design I and II, and principles of pharmacology--but Purdue only looks at the core courses rather than current progress, although they will advise you to take upper level courses). This after having earned 10,588 hours of veterinary experience compared with the average applicant's 2,317 hours. This after attending multiple conferences and seminars on wildlife disease. This after pointing out in a personal meeting that they had mis-transcribed my GRE scores and GPA. To those of you rejected by Purdue, take heart--yes, the professors are kind and smart. The Admissions process is just head-inside-ass). I have a graduate degree, and I'm working on a dissertation, and I was still rejected, nonsensically, while students with two-three semesters of coursework under their belts have been accepted. Last semester, Purdue lost five veterinary students, which the school does not readily replace. Blah.

I'm interviewing at Western in three weeks.

ha. i'm gonna go kill myself now.

jk! jk! seriously though, these stories are awfully disheartening. i'm sorry, twosoakers. good luck at Western!

I just got an advertisement for a Purdue seminar in the mail at work, addressed to me as "Dr."

I'm not obnoxious, so I'm going to resist the urge to send the mailing label back with a note asking if this means that my rejected application has been reconsidered...

I guess that wouldn't be funny... it would be obnoxious.. so I won't do that. :d

Heheh, yeah, see my comment in the 'Colorado' thread. I am so glad to not be going through all that again 🙂
