Just be productive, and make sure it is a meaningful, long-term experience (i.e., don't spend 3 different summers in 3 different labs -- spend 2+ years in one lab).
i don't know man, i think doing things useful in different labs is an important part in understanding and exploring your options. i mean if you truly fall in love with a topic, stick with it. as for me, doing different things, contributing to each is not a bad thing. in fact for grad school this is often a good thing, increase faculty votes.
