I am currently doing research in a lab under a graduate student mentor and the Ph.D. PI does not really know me that well and I have never taken a class with him. Should I get a recommendation letter from my grad mentor alone? Or should I try and have the PI cosign it?

Thanks for your inputs

If you research there long enough they will get to know you. I would suggest you continue working under the PI and start to get to know them. I thought it was impossible to get to know the head of my lab but over time I spoke with her more and things worked out.

Ok, thanks. I will try to get to know the PI a bit better and hopefully get a cosign.
