Hello everyone,

Can anyone advise me regarding entering residency program in 2004. I am a FMG graduate having a green-card applying for citizenship next year. Working as a volunteer at NIH.Passed step 1(second attempt). My Toefl score has expired.I am currently preparing for step 2 and planning to take in March/April next year. Is there a chance maybe outside the match if I clear everyting by june next year. Thanking you.

If you can have your ECFMG certification before end of June 2004, you can always try to scrammble into any pgy1 opening. Certain spots do open up in June/July because of visa probles, etc. for candidates. I personally know of people who have gotten a spot in prelim surgery in late June. Family practice is another field with many unmatched positions in March, some of which may be available in June. Good luck.

hi there... i see you took step 1 twice.. what did you do differently the second time around? how long after failing did you repeat? how long prep the 2nd time?

Well basically the second time I read from more of the High yield books (Lippincotts pharm.,Lippincotts biochem.,did q's from jawets micro, etc.) I took the exam after 1.5 years. I would say the first aid has been helpful too. Hope this can be of help.
