Hi all,

For residency project, I would like to do something in heart failure area or vitamin D deficiency or metabolic syndrom but cannot think of what would be a good project. I am really interest in the heart failure area though. Please help. Any help is appreciated. Thank you so so so much.

Wouldn't it be better to ask what your institution would be interested in researching? That would be my first step. Ask your preceptors.

I agree with the above post and would keep an open mind about finding a project at your new institution. In many cases, the clinical staff will have brainstormed before you arrive and have some options for projects that would benefit that institution specifically.

That said, there is a lot of research floating around about vitamin D and its impact on strength/falls/fractures in the elderly. Checking a vitamin D level but not knowing what to do with it or simply checking the wrong vitamin D level are two situations that come up a lot as well. Even if you can't make your interest in vitamin D into a full research project, consider it for an MUE. You may uncover something interesting and worthwhile in the MUE that could lead to a research project for a future resident...
