As residents are slowly making there way to interviews I am seeing a slight increase in resident publications over the years. I was wondering, what is the most number of publications DURING residency (not including med school or PhD work, etc) that a resident has published. Give the name and years they were in residency for proof as everyone loves to exaggerate.

We had an applicant last year with 12 publications during residency (from a smaller radonc program though) and I was blown away. I usually see 1-3 pubs.

I've had a few new grads send me their CVs looking for a position. # of publications in residency varies from 3-6 (most are on the upper end).

I vaguely recall from a previous thread that there was a guy from UPMC who had an ungodly # of publications (I think he got an MBA too!?).

Seems consistent with my experience. Thanks. I figured mid/upper single digits is about the cap out there in residency, with a few outliers beyond.

I hear of residents who have these crazy # of pubs, but it never holds up on pubmed, or occurred before residency. Sometimes I think it gets exaggerated. Regardless, seems like Beaumont is a factory. Wow.
