Resident Salary Question

one of the places i recently interviewed gave us the updated salary list and it was something like this:

2003-2004 2004-2005
PGY-1 38,500 39,900
PGY-2 39,700 41,200
PGY-3 41,000 42,400

So does that mean that if you were going to be a PGY-2 this year, do you make the 39,700 that was the case when you signed up, or do you make the new 41,200 that is effective in July. Maybe a silly question and definitely does not influence my decision or anything but just curious.

It means you make the higher of the two amounts. Some programs increase your salary by cost of living and then a "raise" per year as you advance.
