Hi,

My DAT scores are

AA 20
PAT 21
TS 22
Bio 20
GChem 22
Ochem 23
QR 19
RC 18.

I applied around august and I had 3.0. I did post bac and updated fall and summer classes and now I have 3.2. So far I got rejected from most of the schools and I did not get any interview. I applied SMP in Columbia University in nutrition and got accepted. However, their tuition is too expensive and I am thinking about retaking DAT and reapply in first day of next application cycle. But I am also afraid that my scores will go down or something... So should I retake DAT and reapply? and skip SMP or not retake DAT and go SMP and apply when I start the SMP program???

Please tell me what you think...

Personally, I think that your DAT scores are fine. Instead, I would suggest improving other aspects of your application: GPA and ECs.
BTW, when did you apply? Make sure to apply EARLY.

Good job on the DAT and on the upward curve of your GPA! Raise your GPA up just a little bit more into the 3.5 range and apply at the beginning of the cycle. I also got a 20 and applied in June and got in to a couple of schools with a 3.6 so good luck!

your DAT is ok, I think you should NOT touch it. The proble is your GPA and I think you know it too. We usually take less courses during undergrad than we have in Dental school and adcom sometimes are afraid of low GPA because they are afraid you may not be able to handle it. IMP you need to take some serious courses (Science, BIO and Chem) courses and get an A and if you can take full time load and show them that you are capable of handling school in that level. GL.

Yeah, your DAT is fine, do not re-take it. You need to raise your GPA. I would take post-bac science courses at the undergrad level and re apply EARLY.

I would do a spreadsheet of your courses you have now and courses you want to take. This way you can see if you get A's and B+'s (at worst) how high your GPA could theoretically go.

That way you know the maximum your GPA can go in one semester.

If you can take courses this semester or in the summer too I would do that also, the more you get under your belt before the schools see your GPA the better.

Apply early!!!

In June!!
