I'm currently a Undergrad student at SFSU, and
I've just gotten a C+ for Chemistry I. My GPA went down a little, and I want to do Pharmacy
Would it be wise to retake this course to aim for an A, I mean I want to try to get a higher pre-req since my overall GPA is 2.6 right now, it was 2.7
I want to try to get it to 3.3 at least before I graduate. But as for pre-req I believe I need a lot better, well I've just started on the basics, such as Chemistry I, and Physics I.
I was just wondering if they look at re-taking a class would look bad in a way or if there's any disadvantage or advantages in doing so.

I want to hear your opinion.

Wow, I hope you're a first-year student with a ton of classes to go, because it's going to take a whole lotta As to raise a GPA from 2.6 to 3.3.

its possible. i started with 1.5 then 2.0 and now I'm at 3.08 overall.

You can retake the class if you have time, but there's no real point in doing so unless you're not doing well in all of your prereq classes.

thanks for the comments
i will try my best to do so

how many years did you do to get 3+ gpa

i was a business major before so I was getting Ds and Cs in those classes. I hated that major but my mom wanted me to get into it. I'm a firm believer that you do well in subjects you enjoy learning. I was gettinmg Cs when I first decided to take some chem and bio classes to see how I liked it. It was a difficult start for me because I was in a class full of other pre-med/pre-health students and everything was new for me. Now I am getting As and Bs. I've been in school for about 5 years now so it took a hella long time to raise my gpa. I had to retake some classes so that was a pain. I don't know how much my GPA can raise with having had many units completed so I feel like I am stuck in a rut at times.

I started out barely with a 2.5 my first quarter of chem/bio classes. After that I worked really hard and got Az and Bz in all my classes and today I have an overall of 3.5 without repeating any course. Instead of repeating your courses, try to get all Az in your classes and your GPA will increase in no time.

I have to agree with CaliRx. It certainly proves that you are in time to raise that GPA. I imagine that it might seem quite daunting to aim for only As and Bs but that is what you must do if you want to be competitive with other applicants wanting to get into school just as badly as you.

It's do-able and something you can definitely pull off. Good luck to you :luck:
