I am planning of doing an informal postbacc and i am wondering how schools will look at me retaking classes. For two of these classes, it would be my 3rd time taking it, however, both were last taken about 8 yrs ago. Here are the classes and my grades.
Bio1: 9 years ago. C
Bio:2 8 years ago C
Chem1: 9 yrs ago B
Chem2: 9 yrs ago B+
Org1: 7 yrs ago C

Both physics I took 7 years ago and got B+'s. Org 2 not taken. I probably won't retake physics. But do grades expire with some schools. Keep in mind, I won't be applying for another year or two. I'll call different school but I am just looking to get a rough idea. Also with bio 1 and chem 1 it would be my 3rd time taking them.

I wouldn't retake if I were you. The idea is to take upper level classes and do well in them. It shows that you can handle those classes.

Bio 1 + 2: take some upper level bio and ace them.
Chem: you got Bs. No retake
Orgo: no need to retake. I would go ahead and take orgo 2.

So don't retake bio 1 and 2 ? Admissions won't look at a retake if I have a c or better ?

If you have time retake, if not then move on with upper level classes. a lot of grades are not competitive esp the C grades.

I would retake if you have the time and money. Both the old and new grades will be part of your GPA, no grades are replaced in the calculation, but at least you show improvement.

Or if you have a lack of time or money pursue an MS program to boost what might be a weak sGPA

The thing is, I have around a 3.0 sgpa with math. But a 2.05 Cgpa from my old university where I did about 80% of my undergrad work, and then transferred to a online college and completed the other 20% with a 3.7.

3.0 sGPA is not enough for admission. Work on a MS to boost that up.

Which MS programs would u reccommend?

a 1 yr non-thesis based program that has a nice chunk of upper level bios. You will need to do well in them in order to look competitive.

Dude, never repeat a class. I would only repeat a D or F. (But D or F will probably keep you out of dschool, so this would be futile too).

It's a no-win situation. If you repeat and you get an A, then schools will think of course, you repeated it. If you repeat and don't get an A, then schools will think you're a dummy. You can only lose.

Better approach is take a different science class (preferably upper division) and get an A.

This was told to me by a couple of admissions people from two different schools. They said they want to see no repeats and no withdrawals.
