hello im 29 years old and about to turn 30 and im planning a career change to pharmacy. i took some of the courses a long time ago like chem and bio 1, but i did not do so hot. i would like to take these courses again and get much better grades. will the old grades be replaced by new better grades, or will they make no difference because they were taken such a long time ago? also i was planning on retaking them at a community college, is this OK? because my degree was in advertising when i first went to college, i was thinking i may have to do a second degree in chemistry or something, to prove to schools im good at science. does anyone think this will be necessary? also, will i be too old to go to pharmacy school? thanks

I'll be turning 31 during my first week of pharmacy school this year. You are definitely not too old to switch to pharmacy, as I have heard of many people in their late 40's and older gunning for the pharm.d. I also took my classes exclusively at a community college, and had no problems getting accepted. The only degrees I have are associates degrees. When I took my prereqs, I took 19 credits per semester and made sure I maintained very good grades to demonstrate my ability to handle the rigor of a potential pharmacy curriculum. As for the age of your science classes... I know there are some schools (maybe many) that require science courses to have been taken within the last ten years (maybe less for some schools). If you did not do well, I would go ahead and retake them. Most pharmacy schools would look at your most recent grade for a particular science class and consider that one. A point that may be in your favor is a showing of strong improvement from the old grade. Pharmacy schools seem to like a record of improvement. Hope this helps! :luck:
