Reuse LORs for next season and sending them using your old token

Questions are about ECFMG ERAS:

If I want to reuse my LORs for the next application season (unmatched first time) is it enough to have them finalized in ERAS or must I actually have sent them in to a residency program?

If I have a new LOR now can I use the 2012 ERAS to send it in or is it better to wait for the next season to start, get the new token and then send it in? I logged into my 2012 account and it will let me send in LORs.

When exactly can you start sending in LORs for the 2013 season?

I would suggest if at all possible to update the letters even just to change the date so they do not appear old even if the content is the same. you want at least one new LoR too as obviously something was amiss that you didn't match and if you can boost your LoRs that will hopefully help this time round. A recent letter explaining what you have been doing is important. You will need to explain this in your personal statement as well. Not using this time well will be the kiss of death for your application so I hope you have been productive whether this is through observerships, research projects, voluntary work, teaching, further education etc.

I imagine ERAS opens 1st july like last year so can send in letters after that. You should wait to the new season, i imagine (but not sure) you would get a new number with your token which is matched to the letters etc. best to avoid any confusion its just safer not to submit anything until then.

I think it lets you send in letters bc the season has not technically closed yet. Closes May 31.
