They told me this when I called regarding March interviews...no dice. I called yesterday about April interviews....no dice again, still in PIP. Cruel and unusual punishment it is.

Cheers,
Jocks

Maybe if I move to California they will interview me....doesnt RFU love Californians?

no 😡

So anyone receive the snail mail invite yet?

Not particularly.....any out of state candidates who make the cut after the interview are still placed in the alternate list before being accepted.

Not selected either for April interview 🙁

i did not know this. so no matter what, i'll be placed on the alternate list post interview before being accepted? (i'm a CA resident.)

No, I don't believe that's true. I've met people on my interview trail who weren't IL residents but held acceptances at RFU.

Yes, moving to California is exactly what you want to do to increase your chances of medical school acceptance. 🙄

yeah, it also would really help to lower your GPA and mcat scores and take part in less extracurricular and research activities.

in my experience, some schools (like RFU, NYMC and SLU) interview large number of Californians...could also be due to number of applicants coming out of cali who inevitably wont get into their state schools

Yes, but I don't think they would give CA residents preference. They certainly haven't for this Californian, but whatever. If you want to up your chance based on your state of residency, New Jersey (nearly instant residency) and Ohio seem to be the best bets.

As a side note, my interviewers at EVMS seemed genuinely concerned I would be going to a UC next Fall, specifically, one mentioned UCLA. I managed not to laugh, but only just. 😛

nope, RFU hates me

i got a letter today and got so excited but it turned out to be from their biomedical program. so insensitive

When I called them last week they said that all the remaining application should hear from them (interview or no interview) this coming week. They still have interview spots left-but she said that they are for the waitlist spot.

kpatel,

i interviewed in early january there and i was passed over in the Jan and Feb admissions committee meetings. i got the "we cannot offer you a place yet but you will be reviewed at further meetings letter".

did the lady say that all people including those without an interview will be given letters this week? i am waiting for the march admission committee meetings to be finished.

RFU is my last shot or its re-application time so i am all depressed and anxious. I called the office about a week ago and the lady said that the class was full and everyone else was basically for waitlists.

yuck. yuck. yuck. yuck. yuck. the chances of gaining acceptance are far, far, far tougher than ever before... i have actually begun to get ready for the new AMCAS. i figure that if you accept rejection now, you won't be that upset when the letter comes but if you keep your hopes high, you could potentially be devasted. likewise, if you get an acceptance letter when you thought you were rejected, it would be the greatest thrill in the world.

Dogdayafternoon,

They told me that the remaining post-secondary applications should receive a letter this coming week. They did not say anything about the people who have already been interviewed.

Hang in there. that is a good way of thinking about it.
when does the new AMCAS come out?

it's the same old amcas but i meant for the new application season. i think its in mid june or something to that.

Anyone know when the committee is meeting in april? I presume it to be sometime mid-month. Keepin my fingers crossed!

I got a rejection letter in the mail stating that their class is now full and will not be considered further.

Rejected as well, good luck everyone else

what does this mean? i dont get it,they are rescinding interviews?

Oh NO!!! I was rooting for you Desi!! Sorry to hear that.... I'm sure their loss is another school's gain, though.

So it must be true what I read somewhere on someone else's profile that the "possible interview pool" is essentially the "slow reject" pool....hrmph. :meanie:

sorry to hear that desimcat. I hate possible interview piles. If other schools out there can look at your app and decide whether to reject you within a few months of receiving your secondary, why is it that RFU strings people along until April....Yeah i know they cant be as selective as other schools but its really annoying. Good luck with your other apps

RFU hates me. Got my rejection last night, for the second time around.

Got rejected too. There's really no point to their PIP, they should keep these things internal. I have a feeling they won't reveal applicants' status next year.

Hey thanks for the good wishes 🙂. At this point it looks like another application cycle for me, but I will try RFU again next year and see maybe better luck next time 🙂. I hope everyone else waiting here recieves the good news soon. You all are very nice people and would not mind having any of you as my future classmates/colleagues 🙂

I am sorry to hear that, good luck in your other apps, and it might be next year that they wont reveal app status, who knows?

sorry to hear the news for some of you.
were you guys post-interview or pre?

good luck with other schools.

anyone hear recently that was post-interview?

Thanks 🙂 At this point I'm not awaiting any good news from schools I haven't heard from so I open rejection letters with about the same amount of emotion as junk mail.

I got an interview letter today (04/05), so they're still going. I'm turning it down (finally got into Creighton), so maybe one of you will get it...

good luck

the class could still be full and the remaining interviews are just to continue filling the waitlist. at this point they may have decided that they'll have enough people on the waitlist with the remaining interviews that they no longer want to invite any new people.

wtf, so you are saying that they are canceling interviews that may already have been scheduled? i still dont get it

No, they're finally sending rejections to the applicants on the possible interview list who did not receive an interview invite in May (anyone, correct me if I'm wrong). The class being full means those who have interviews in April and May are shooting for the waitlist at this point, but that's not necessarily cause for despair--I think the waitlist will start moving in a month or so.

Hope that helped!

yea that did, thx

did anyone receive good news this month post interview?

"no news for you!" - the news nazi

i am waiting patiently for hopefully an acceptance!
i just got a letter saying my app. will be actively reviewed in the next few months, and the class is full. anyone else get this letter? I had already received a letter post-interview about being not accepted, but reviewed in the future.

I'm not sure where exactly I stand. Interviewed back in October...no decision made since then. Since I have not been either rejected or accepted at this point, am I waitlisted? If so I'm hopeful that I will be one of the many pulled off the waitlist and put into the class this summer!

RFU really confuses me sometimes with their bizarre admissions practices...

Scintillation

When did you interview? And have you been sending any updates or just waiting? I interviewed in November, and am in the same boat as you.

I interviewed in early January and I've been passed over at the Feb and March admission committee meetings. I got that letter that "seats were limited" and my application would be "reviewed at future committee meetings".

1.) Does anyone know when the April committee meets?

2.) No news is good news. At this point with all these rejections going on, I am strangely happy that I haven't received any letter from RFU. In Feb and March, I couldn't wait for the letter to come. Now I hope the letter never comes because I am afraid it is a rejection.

3.) Scintillation, I'm surprised I have not received a letter yet. I live in IL just like you and I have not yet received that updated waitlist letter. Crazy... What could this mean?

DesiMCAT,

So sorry to hear about you. I hope that the next application cycle holds better fortune for you, my friend. My thoughts are with you.
