Wow thanks for the info. I 😍your friend!!

I have a feeling this WL is somewhat ranked. They just don't want us to call and ask...

So who's going to muster up some courage and call them?
I'd really like to know bc i haven't even worked on my housing for midwestern yet. I'm planning to buy a condo, but while I'm hanging on by a thread here I don't feel like doing any serious hunting quite yet...
(plus UIC never told me anything, but I kinda just forget about them )

Congrats! And THANKS!!!

What is the BMS program?
Do you apply to it separately, or do you apply to CMS, and then they may choose to place you there instead of accepting you to the M1 class right away?

Separately. I think the deadline was June 1st, but I could be wrong.

Yes the deadline was June 1st

How much $$$ does the RFU BMS program cost?

bigdog, love the icon. and what happens if you dont pick up the call (from RFU)? i work 40 hours/week and probably wouldnt be home when they call... so does that mean they move on down or leave a message.

side note: are you the master of your domain?

They shall leave you a msg. And they also send a letter indicating you've been offered a spot. i doubt highly they drop you like its hot.

and thank you. i figured it worked for Jc, why not give it a try, eh?

BMS is like 36K

Thats nasty. Pretty much the same cost of the med school tuition. To those going into SMP or the BMS how do you guys plan to pay for it? Loans I'd assume... 👎

Guys....

Let's say I DID do this BMS thing (I have to decide by June 22), should I start filling out my AMCAS application? I don't have enough time, or do I?, to take the MCAT again, so basically the only thing new on the application would be that I'm applying significantly earlier this time and that I'm doing a SMP.

Thoughts? What are you guys doing?

Can you submit AMCAS now and retake the MCAT later and send the scores as an update?

Yes. You can submit your AMCAS now (best to do it asap, whenever the window opens) and retake the MCAT. I believe there is even a place on the AMCAS where you indicate that you will be taking it after you submit your application so they can expect updated scores. Your scores are automatically sent to AMCAS, so they should update themselves. (I have not actually done this, but I know it is an option. Maybe someone else can give more details from experience.)

For those who have been accepted, have you had any luck with the financial aid process. I submitted my Grad PLUS and Stafford loans a couple of weeks ago, but the office does not respond to phone messages or emails. I need to know if I am even going to get the money to go. Anyone else fill out the application?

I talked with the financial office yesterday and they said they will start processing financial aid forms in a week and we should hear by the begining of July.

What about paying for apartment rent? Are we supposed to do it by ouselves for the first month and get reimbursed later?

Hey, how did you guys go about submitting the Stafford Loan application. For some reason I can only get the link to the Grad Plus loan....

I'm going to rewrite my personal statement and update my activities. I think my MCAT is okay and my energy would be of more use in other areas. It would take a lot of work to get back to where I think I could do better. Also, I don't want to risk doing worse.

I'm going to go mow the lawn for my Dad. Happy Old Man Day!

Rowell😉

Happy Fathers Day to all.

Here's to some good news for the sdn faithful.

Bump.

I thought this thread would have been to page 6 or 7 by the time I got a chance to log on. what's going on everyone?
my sister's wedding is over and i am really tired.
its good to hear that people have been withdrawing from RFU.

Hey Guju. I hope the wedding was fun and not to stressful. As for me, reality has set in. I am just getting prepared for an SMP year and if I get a call from RFU it will be a pleasant surprise.

New week, new chance for acceptance.

This weeks theme: Vindication

Hey guys, I just got approved for a deferral so I will be matriculating next year. Hopefully this will open up a spot for one of you guys this year. Good luck!

Hey, I am also considering a deferral. Can I ask how you went about this and how strict they are on the reason for defferal?

I feel ya. reality is setting in a bit too much. I've started to look for housing, applied for all my financial aid, and now i realize how much i'm going to be in debt. mwu tuition is $38K/year, and thats for in-state.
A pleasant surprise is the best way to look at it. 👍

Hey, I am also considering a deferral. Can I ask how you went about this and how strict they are on the reason for defferal?

I would e-mail Morgandi Lashley ([email protected]) and ask for a deferral application. I do know that the deadline for the application was June 15 (as stated at the bottom of the application), so I'm not sure if they will consider deferral requests at this point. No harm in asking, though.

There are three questions:
A. Primary Reason for Request
B. What do you plan to do during this year to prepare yourself for matriculation into the Chicago Medical School next year?
C. Is there anything else you wish for the committee to be aware of in the evaluation of your request to defer admission?

I'm not sure how strict they are, but my primary reason was to finish up my research projects that will likely result in multiple publications.

PM me if you have any other questions. :luck:

the wedding was fun but I am very tired right now.

That's it guys, this was my best week-end ever.

I met my girlfriend's parents on Friday, graduated Saturday, Partied the whole week-end, and ...... I GOT ACCEPTED ONE HOUR AGO

This is so sweet

So basically, the office calls regarding a status change on my application and that was it, I told them i would definitely accept their offer.

For all of you still waiting, do not give up hope, 15 % is huge.

I can't believe I was going to accept a job offer this morning as well. I had pushed it for the week-end with all the festivities and I guess it was fate that made me delay it

again .... keep hope and I will see you in august

congrats scoob. nice job. live it up until school starts.

I wish i knew if i gave them my cell or home phone. the secondary was a online pdf or something i think so i don't have it saved except for the essay part. i think it'd be too much to ask them what phone number i have listed.

thanks , I am going to partaaaaaaayyyyy

Nice job scoobitu, but it is also bad news for the rest of us. Fast forward to two weeks from now and maybe I will not feel so bad.

You know, I am still amazed that i got in. My stats are not that impressive:
10 physical
7 verbal
9 biological
Q written
26 Q total

3.8 GPA ( 4.0 non science, 3.7 science)

It was even harder for me to get in, being an international student from Belgium, but I DID. So keep your hopes high and believe in yourself.

You have a beautiful GPA, nice work.

I have very similar stats to you scoob.
Only dif is that my verbal is the highest and bio is the lowest. i thought my gpa would show them i'm not incompetent. well, who knows, maybe they'll realize it one day?
congrats again.

Hey guys. I got in today also. Got a call around noon. I am so relieved and happy. Hope you guys get in also!

Good job Saftb.

.......Sigh.........

SCREW ROSALIND FRANKLIN!

No phone call here! some people keep on telling me that the good news will come when you least expect it. so maybe now i should just think that i will never hear any good news from RFU.

Congrats Scoobitu and Saftab. I am so glad more from this forum will be joining us in August, we seems like such a cheerful bunch!

Heston, Dr.Nick, Guju and everyone else still held in suspense...don't worry, things will work out. I am really rooting for you this year, but if it doesn't work, there's always next year. This is my second time around and the trick is just to never give up. It's not that you don't deserve a spot, it is just a sheer numbers game... they get 7000+ applications for ~150 spots... rough. 🙁 You made it through undergrad and the MCAT and still want to be MD, so you know you have the ambition... just keep at it!

Again, I really hope to see everyone here this fall! For now, enjoy the summer while it lasts! 😛

Grats Scoobitu and Saftab🙂

Nothing here as well, but that was expected...

judging by accpetance trends recently i am assuming that they are meeting once a week.

I wish i had a disadvantaged minority status.
Damn all you brown doctors!

So far its 3/21. so about 14.3% of peeps from the sdn gang have gotten in so far. And not all are on that list.
so its either looking like a really good trend... (optimist)
or the best times are behind us and movement is going to start to slow down... (pessimist)

With Saftab, that makes 4/21 or around 19%. bigdog, I like your optimist/pessimist viewpoints. I must admit that I think I've all but killed the optimist inside of me.

NM, didn't want to start a URM flame war
