Wow that's 80%... how many students total were in the program?

Any indication what was wrong (i.e., < 3.0 BMS program grades) with the 14 that were rejected?
Those who I know were rejected had one or more Cs. The people I know who are waitlisted had one high C and all other grades B or higher.
Does that include people who left the program after interviewing due to acceptance another school and those who took a leave of absence?
We started out with over 110 maybe closer to 120 students.

Those are crazy numbers! I don't know why more people don't apply to RFU's BMS. Getting accepted into BMS is pretty much getting into CMS imo granted you don't **** up.
Does anyone know if Dr. Pullen, the program director, is on the admissions committee for this program?
I made a mistake..76 people got in (78% of the people) so about 97-98 people originally applied.

By any chance do you know if those who received a C and was rejected, did they get a C in Physiology or Neuroscience? Physio is 14 units and Neuro is 7.5 when I checked BMS Website.
Is it safe to assume that there were students with 1 C and still admitted into CMS when applied as a BMS?
Congrats to everyone who is starting BMS this fall. I hope this program pays off because I will be there in Fall as well. =)

I know of one person rejected with a C in CMCB, a few who had a C in biochem, also a few from physio, and neuro. These people did not have any As. In years past, people who had 1 C and 1 A and the rest Bs were accepted, but I'm not sure if that was the case this year.
My best advice is to do anything in your power to NOT get a C. Just work hard and do your best.

for, past bmsers, did you guys apply to CMS only while in BMS? or applied to other schools as well.
I think if you didn't apply for fall of 2012, you would still receive the courtesy interview and get placed in the BMS category. I would ask the BMS department heads Dr. Tappert or Dr. Pullen on how that would work as well as if they have statistics on applicants who completed BMS and took a glide year to apply to other schools. They'll probably be sharing these numbers with you at orientation, but if you're dying to know, I'm sure they wouldn't mind the email!
I applied to my state school and a couple other schools in the Illinois area but didn't complete many secondaries due to time and money, so I pretty much put all my eggs in one basket! I know a lot of other people who applied broadly and completed all their secondaries, so it depends on the person.
Has anybody heard anything about admissions? I know the postmark deadline passed so perhaps they are sorting/organizing everything together for a next "wave" of acceptances? Anyone know how many people applied this year?
I feel my application is competitive but just gotta hope for the best. I have an M.S. and lots of experience in the particular medical specialty I am interested in....and two very strong LORs from MDs that practice that specialty plus two more from faculty
This waiting is agonizing me. It's either this program or a new clinical job in September.😱😕😱😕😱
I already emailed admissions about the completion of my application but am weary of continuing calls and emails.

Were there any that got accepted to other MD or DO school and CMS and ended up going to other non-CMS schools?
There have been other acceptances but as to whether or not they went to non CMS schools, the data's not entirely in yet.

I just got the background check e-mail, do we have to pay the $125 or is there some redemption code from the school
I was told that "The Office of Admissions plans on notifying the next batch of acceptances by email, but at this time the timeframe of when these emails will go out is not determined."

Ok so I just made an account with sdn so forgive me if im not using it correctly...but ssucla, did you go to ucla and are now entering the BMS class of 2012? I just graduated from ucla and Im doing the program. It would be exciting if someone else was making the long journey from CA to IL

Hi, rrucla! Yes, I went to UCLA and will be part of the 2012 BMS class. It is definitely a long journey from home. Glad to hear there are others in the same situation. I am currently in the process of attempting to find protective gear against the harsh Chicago weather to come.

You will all be fine and be used to it after the first few <30 degree weeks. Just get yourself a good coat from Columbia or similar, a hat, insulated gloves and you're good to go! Probably a lot of sweatshirts too, I wear one every day from November to March.

And do you know what times we'd have to arrive between to be pick up room keys for student housing?

I emailed the housing office to see what our exact move in date would be. They said we will "sign up for a move in date in July when we send your room assignment information. There will be a link in the email for you to follow to sign up for a specific appointment day and time."
I'm probably going to go the IKEA or Walmart route. It seems to be the most economical.

I grew up here so I know I can't really talk, but I did have a friend in undergrad from Georgia who said it wasn't nearly as bad as she was expecting.From what I gathered from the various current students and people familiar with the area, a car is absolutely necessary or you should make friends with someone with a car. The nearest grocery stores and other essentials are in the next town which is like 5 miles away.

Their website states they have room for 100 students. For 2010-2011 there were more than 100. So what is the actual limit?
Get a car/make friends with someone who has one. North Chicago is in the middle of bumblef---k nowhere and to get anywhere useful, you'll need to drive.

i know it starts in the evening, but they did not specify what time.
To the poster who will arrive at 8:00 p.m., you will most likely miss the first day. For us last year, it was a bbq and a meet-greet with your OAs. That was it..basically a mingle night
