Received "Possible Interview" email from Chicago Med today. What a way to play the maybe/maybe not game.

Dear Applicant;

Your application has passed through our screening process and you are a
part of our possible interview pool. The possible interview status
means that you will be under consideration for an interview throughout
the interviewing season which runs from mid-October until mid-May. Each
year we select 1500-2000 applicants to be a part of the possible
interview pool and about 600-700 of those applicants are chosen for
interviews. If your application is selected for an interview, you will
be notified through regular mail at least a month in advance of the
interview dates.

wow, thats a new one. Now im definitely sure this is just to torture students

I think this is a good e-mail. I have not gotten it. 🙁

It seems like med schools are getting more shadier than drug dealers getting the 3rd degree from the cops. I hate that. It seems as though they do that to give them a large range of leeway when it comes to decisions. Oh well.

i got that e-mail today as well...didnt kno they screened?

I second that notion... did they screen??

They might not have gotten to your application yet - I'm sure there is hope for you!

I spoke to the office some time ago, and they said they didn't start reviewing till Sept...so yours could be on some busy faculty member's desk??

does anyone know how long rosalind waits to make a decision on your status after the interview?

Dang, this is the only email I've gotten from them. 🙁

Hello! This is to notify you that your file is complete as of today.
It will be sent for an initial screening, and you will receive the
Committee's decision by mail. You may contact our office should you have
any questions.

Notice that I will get their decision by mail....not email. Doesn't look good.

Yes I got this letter too, and nothing about being in the "interview pool" 🙁

I want to be in the interview pool!!!!!

No I really feel the interview pool with Chicago Med is a good thing. Several people were complete a long time ago and didnt get it.

They give you a score. If you are below a certain level, then you are put on the list, and they interview you if they need to/ there is time. If you are above a certain level, you are given an invite straight out. The possible interview pool is kind of like being on hold. Yes, it's better than a rejection, but it's not really a good thing.

Right, but what if people didnt get that e-mail. does that mean they are automatically rejected?

Well you were saying it was a good sign, I'm telling you that it's more of a neutral to negative sign.

Not being put on that list certainly doesn't mean you're rejected. Plus, it hasn't even been that long. It's still only September. Even if you have been complete there since July, that's not that long.

they did say that only 1500-2000 people are in the possible interview pool. that seems to be pretty selective. I feel that the other applicants that are not in this pool are probably rejected. either way, it stinks. i kinda want to get that e-mail. 🙄

Wait a second.............when I called the Ros.Franklin people they told me that the possible interview pool was like "pre-interview" and that everyone that would get an interview would come out of that pool (except for the first batch of invites who got called immediately so that they could schedule). So isn't being in the pool a good thing? I asked the lady directly if people could be invited directly and her answer was "no, they must come out of the possible interview pool, except for the first batch". So if your in the pool, it's a good thing

That sounds like a notch above the dreaded 'hold' status. 😎

I guess. I know that they do rank you though, so everyone in the pool is not equal. At least that's how they did it last year.

read your conversation with Rosalind Frank on your MD apps ....funny! I think they should just send you an email if invited, and not send you one if not. More clearcut, rather than playing mind games.

But where's the fun in that?

in case you were wondering if your little MDapps blogs were ever looked at, I just read both of them in their entireties. 😛

I feel so violated! Hopefully they weren't too boring. Most people seem to get a laugh at least. 🙂

so what does it mean to have received the "you're complete and we'll notify you by mail" email? does this mean you're pretty much out?

um, I highly doubt it. I personally withdrew from RosF, but almost every other school I applied to sent me an e-mail saying I was complete, and some of those same schools have also offered me interviews, so based on my experience, NO.

I got this e-mail this morning. Do you guys know if it would be fruitful to send updated information (like LORs) at this time? Or would it make more sense to send it only if I actually get an interview...which I definitely don't have my hopes up for because I learned for me at least, it's more fun to be more pessimistic than more optimistic. 🙁

no, it just means your application is complete and they'll make a decision after they review it. i got the complete email and then the interview pool email a couple of weeks later.

if you read the email, it says 1500-2000 are in the pool and 600-700 are actually interviewed, so you can figure out your approximate odds from that. whether you're a glass half full or empty person is up to you! 😛

This sounds right!! They interviewed about 700 students last year, right? If that is the case, most of them must have been part of the "possible interview" pool.

I got the same email too...It is an "On Hold" status.

heh i got the possible interview email a week or so ago. so we'll see where this goes.

Now I have the possible interview thing too.

has anyone been taken off this interview pool yet from rosalind franklin?

i was put in this swimming pool of interview potentials like 2 weeks ago....... and still nothing.... if you did get an interview after this email, please post your stats... please please...

kinda off topic, but does rosalind franklin have an undergrad school?

got this today. i guess i'm one step closer to an interview.

I just got the possible interview emial too. Has anyone come off of this list yet? if so, when were you complete, when did you recieve the possible interview email and when were you contacted about the email?

Has anyone been rejected yet by rosalind?

Good luck to all

I just got the email today too. They must be on their second round of condemning students to pre-med purgatory. Hopefully someone comes off of it soon so they can share their experience. Has ANYONE on SDN interviewed at RF this year?

I interviewed last week and had a great experience. I was on the possible interview list and informed RFU a few weeks in advance that I was going to be in Chicago for interviews and was offered an opening.

The school is awesome. Amazing facilities and even better rotations. Nice match list too. I'd love to go there.

I received an application is complete notification about a month ago. Should I get worried that I was not placed into an possible interview pool by now?

I'm not liking these signs. I haven't received any notifications from them lately.

dont worry.

as far as i am concerned, no one has been rejected yet. and i believe EVERYBODY goes into the pool.

why would everyone go into the pool? only those they might consider interview go in, i called yesterday and asked to see what was up.

Hi guys,
I was placed on the interview pool and received an interview offer through snail-mail dated one week later.

Does anyone know when RFU starts rejecting? Maybe from last year?

To answer my own question, according to last year's rejection thread, first rejection was received by an SDNer on Dec 7. So mail can only bring good news in October, right?

Were any of you august MCATers who received this possible interview letter?
Or...Have any august MCATers heard from this school?

I finally heard a few days ago that they have my scores and are reviewing my application.

if you haven't received a complete notification and your school uses virtual evaluations, you should definitely call rfu and tell them. i should have been complete almost two months ago but i called today and asked and, apparently, they have had problems downloading virtual evals. the only way they can know to re-download the letters is if the student contacts them. so, just a heads up. i received a "complete" e-mail just a few hours after I called, so that's all it takes. this may be old news, though. i didn't read through this thread. anyway, just letting you all know.

has anyone received an invite this wk?

This is kind of a general answer to some of the thread questions so far. Didn't see it before, or I would have posted sooner.
I was confused about the "possible interview pool" too. Hopefully you won't have to wait long. I think I got an invitation to interview by snail-mail a day or so later. (I was complete sometime in Aug.) I was also really pissed about the vagueness of the original e-mail. But, like I said, the interview invitation came soon after, ameliorating some of my anger. I'd be happy to try to find the answers to any of your questions when I go to visit them on the 10th. Just post them here, and I'll see what I can do. From the wishy-washyness of some of their communications, that might help give a more realistic idea of where we all stand.
