hi,
what you said is correct, Ross has pretty good statistics and it is a fairly easy school to gain admission into. i actually applied to the school last year for the january 2003 semester, i got in about two weeks later but deferred the admission because i had always placed ross as a backup, and i hadn't applied domestically yet. i have a lot of close friends that go there and they are really pleased with the curriculum. they obviously say that island life isn't the greatest, but you get used to it. if your serious about it, i don't think its a bad way to go. the good thing about it is that you don't have to swarm yourself with the whole amcas application process and secondary responses, which can get extremely frustrating at times. to be honest with you, one of the biggest reasons why i didn't end up accepting their offer was because of the difficulty IMG's (international medical graduates) have when applying for US residency positions. ross grads typically get a residency here in the states, but it may not be the residency of your choice or field you want to go into. for instance, if you are dead set you want to do orthopaedic surgery, i would not consider ross. there are over 25,000 IMG's applying for roughly 5000 residency spots (5000 is about the left over of spots available after US grads match). the good thing is that ross grads and other caribbean grads have top priority of those 25,000 because schools and hospitals here are aware of ross's reputation. spending only 16 months on the island and then the rest here in the states gives ross students a high priority when it comes to other IMG's that have done their medical training in other countries. you should seriously think about it though. i would recommend reading up on the ross forum. i do not remember the actual website, but if you type in ross medical school forum in google, it should come up. i found a lot of valuable information there. if there is anything else you need to ask please feel free to ask. i hope i have helped a little. take care and best of luck.
