I know this has been addressed and can't find it.
Does a DO rotating internship count against funding years if one applies for IM the next year?
Does it matter if the IM programs are "mixed" or DO only?

if you do a tri, that counts as a year and then match
into fp as a pgy1, do they still pay you for all 3 years even though they aren't paid fully for the last year in a DO program?

Yes, they have to pay you for every year that you work. They may decide not to hire you in the first place because there will be a funding problem down the line. But these funding issues are very complicated and many programs will not care. All fellows are reimbursed at the decreased rate, and programs sponsor lots of those.
